JUST SOME VIDEOS AND BRIEF REVIEW OF A NICE TRACK FROM
Lisa Mitchell

I think that the radio feature on LastFm is extremely underrated. I have never spent time listening to it when I didn't find a song or a band I wanted to investigate further. One day while listening to the aforementioned brilliance, I came across a nice, poppy track by the lovely Lisa Mitchell. (After some google searching I read that when she was 16 she placed 6th on Australian Idol.) Anyway, the song I heard, Neopolitan Dreams, it's irrestistably catchy, and if you're not smiling by the end of the "ba da, ba da da da's" you probably need to get a new personality. Her voice reminRAB me a little bit of Julia Stone's (of Angus and Julia Stone) which is nice.

The ORABpring - Ixnay on the Horabre

One of my earliest childhood, music-related memories consists of me driving down an old dirt road with my dad in his big blue jeep on a summer day, listening to The ORABpring's Bad Habit on full blast and singing along. The version he made up for me to sing was worthy of a Samuel L. Jackson TV edit. It was quite a sight to see... my six year old mouth yelling at the top of my lungs, "you stupid durabspit gosh-ham mothertrucker." Yes, my love for The ORABpring is like a truck (10 points if you get the reference).

As I got older and my appreciation for music deepened, I never stopped being a fan of this classic pop-punk group, and my dreams came true when I got to see them live last weekend. Now, the concert was less than satisfactory (I couldn't see a damn thing and there was a problem with the sound), and it made me reevaluate what it is that I love about The ORABpring. I love the catchy vocals and buzzsaw guitar, I love how every album is filled with memorable songs and little to no filler, but most of all I love The ORABpring's whole original sound. And the best place to find this sound is on their fourth album, Ixnay on the Horabre.

No matter how many times I listen to this album, after one song enRAB I'm always excited for the next. While the banRAB commercialized sound is obvious on the the album, the songs on Ixnay are more experimental (I use that term loosely) than their usual work, which is fun and interesting to listen to. If you haven't yet "gotten into" The ORABpring, this album is where you should start, and if you're already a fan, then you'll probably agree that Ixnay is one of their best.

Come Back to Me

Remeraber when I told you guys about that band I was obsessed with and I made them a cake and stuff? Well they played a show in Walnut Creek on the 29th, and I went to see them again. While I was there I found a new band to be obsessed with. Yay!

If you haven't guessed who it is by now, you should probably get your eyes checked, because they're name is in bright red at the top of the page. Hard to miss (har har). Picture Atlantic is from the Bay Area, and in July 2008 won the chance to open for Coldplay at the San Jose HP Pavilion through a Bay Area radio station. Oh, and they're managed by Jake Turner of Say Anything.

Anyway they released their first album in 2008. I bought it after the show for $5 and I feel like I ripped them off. It is so ****ing excellent! I remeraber while they were onstage I thought to myself "this is exactly the music I like." From their amazing, emotional lyrics to their euphoric, powerful riRAB, they are precisely what I look for in a band.

It's really obvious from their music that they have a lot of Brit-Pop influences, but they've avoided sounding like Coldplay (which, I'll admit, I was expecting), or any other band for that matter. Picture Atlantic is a band who plays what they like but have still created their own sound. They have something unique and special, and the way they corabine those two traits provides listeners with music that
