Seether

Im glad u started liking them, i just have one small thing to say about that.

It seems like every "rockish" band to come out after Nirvana is either like Nirvana or compared directly to Nirvana. There to band in my opinion are Nothing alike. And if you disagree please find some proof that makes the two similar artists.

I like their song the Gift From Karma and Effect

The song they did with Amy lee gave me an ear infection. No lie.
It was on the Punisher Soundtrack which is fitting i suppose since the Punisher wasn't done too well anyway

Really?, I didnt know every new band is compared to sounding like Nirvana. As I stated before, It is just my personal opinion. I always thought Puddle of Mud had a Nirvana influence also, But of course, I can not show you proof of that, I simply hear the influence myself. Ive heard a few other, As to say, quant influences with a few other banRAB Ive heard. But not like I hear with Seether & Puddle of Mud. I am a big Curt Cobain(Nirvana) fan since 93s Seattle era. So....Nirvana is Nirvana. And I would find it hard to believe that they're influence, would be of no value to today's Alternative/Modern Rock. Can you hear Hendrix's influence with Stevie Ray Vaughn? And so, The cycle of musical influences goe's on....Now this is only my personal opinion Brother. So you may have your 'own opinion' on this subject, which I respect. I guess it is in the eye's(ears) of the beholder. You have stated a very good point, even though I can not prove it to you. One may hear the influence, Or not.

Most definately not....Especially not their recent album...A lot of it is kind of "Light Rock for those Who Don't Like Rock?"

I don't know. You know what I mean.

I have had a little time to reflect on the question, How would I compare the influence of Nirvana, to say, Seether. And again, this is only from my point of view. The first comparison would be, The style in which the lyrics of both song writer's use very close to the same type's of phrase's, line's, wording, etc. (I could, show example's of comparing lyric's), but, with that, I will add. They both have the same, closely related, vocal range & voice quality. (I have indulged in playing with a # of cover band's through the year's, and I possess no 'Delusions of Grandeur', nor do I know everything about music). I find Nirvana & Seether both use, within certain consideration's, the same chord pattern's, key, etc. They are both, more or less, classified in the Alternative/Modern Rock catagory. Yet....Nirvana is Nirvana, & Seether is Seether. I would 'not' compare the ability & level of talent, say....To the lead guitar player's, Bassist, Drummer's, etc. Or, one band to the other.

Hey all Foamy here!

Well Im new here and dont realy know how things work, but anyway thought I could get a little discustion going about Seether, after all I personaly think they are the best band brought together.

So just wanted to know wat you people think of them, good, bad or ok?

mabye a few most loved songs, song you disliked? Get the point. okay!!
Haha thanks guys! :yeah:

Fair Enough

And my point was more out of frustration of the fact that i have probably seen every band in the rock genre heavily compared to Nirvana's sound, and said to be an influence. And i find that ridiculous. Dont get me wrong though, i love Nirvana.

I couldn't see a thread so I thought I'd make one.

What do you all think of Seether? They're fronted by Shaun Morgan who in my opinion has fantastic voice, intriguing personality and is a very good lyricist. I see them as something of a modern day hybrid of Alice In Chains and Nirvana. Maybe it's Shaun's personal problems that make the music so powerful and real, but what ever it is I really like it.

They've had three albums out so far and their new one is due out in 2011 (along with Crossfade, Trust Company, Dredg, Allele and Cold). Will you be buying it? Everything I've heard from them so far (apart from 'Fake It' which is quite awful in my opinion) has been amazing and their albums have been very enjoyable top to bottom so far.
