Hi Everyone, Just dropping in to see how everyone is doing. I just finished reading everyone's posts. Boy, Sammy, you sure have done some really hard work with your new house, and I see that Chkuehn also has put some hard work in also. I used to be able to do things like that, but now I can't even cut the grass. I miss doing physical work; I always liked a bit of hard work. Now it takes me forever just to dust and vacuum! Sammy, I hope you get some good results and find out something from having the EMG and the bone scan. You sound like me, as to being a confusing case! I wish you luck, though, and I hope this doctor finRAB an answer for you. As for an update on me.....I am still searching for answers. Finally had my appointment with a new doctor at a Back and Pain Management Practice. Nice man, gave me a through check up, and said he think he can help me. Then...proceeRAB to tell me he is going on vacation for two weeks! I am so angry about that, and the fact that his office girl made me the appointment knowing I was a new patient, and surely knowing he was going on vacation. He had me go have an MRI of the back, but I can't find out anything until he comes back from vacation. I am calling the office tomorrow and demanding to speak to another doctor, as I really am in pain. Also called my neurologist to see if I could go in this week for a shot.....he is also on vacation next week. Makes me wanna cry!!!

But, has anyone experienced any pelvic pain? I had a slight yeast infection about three weeks ago; went to my gyno, took meRAB, and it went away. Then, came back last week and seems like all my tests at the gyno came back clear this time. But, I am still having pelvic pain and a slight burning feeling now and then. I am just wondering if the inflammation from my back could cause pelvic inflammation also? I am grasping at straws here, but wondering what you all think about this new developement? Any thoughts? Thanks and take care, everyone.

Judy, I just wore out an ice pack, sprung a leak, need some new ones, I rotate between moist heat & ice, doc say moist heat but many times I prefer the ice. one night not long ago I sat up in the bed with moist heat on one area and ice on another, I could not move and fearing I would dislogde on, I actually got a good laugh out of that. I hate the mornings that is the worst time the day, can't wait to get them over with, had a pretty decent one today, got so excited I started 3 things at once and had to stop and make myself do one at a time, never thought I would be excited or trying to organize a closet! You have pretty much been told same as me, I am going for test ordered by neuro. monday. I would just be happy to know what the heck is wrong. Took pain med before I even got out of bed today, try it again tommorrow. Anyone hear know anything about Lyrica? Doc put me on it and not hearing such good things? Have The MRI done if you can, and when you get a chance let me know what other tests you have had, we sound as if we may have at least some simularities, thanks, Marcia does indeed sound pretty smart, so Marcia anytime you want to be buddies I like getting good advice. Sammy

Crabroad & CHK, thanks guys, the nearest emergency room would have been like an hour away, I knew it was the pain causing the heart to race not to mention being behind the wheel, I was pretty desperate to get out of the car. What ever snapped in the scapula area is keeping this pain going. Don't know ladies I guess my frustration level is at the highest it has been, tired of waiting forever for these docs, then they all lecture me about being careful about the pain meRAB, which I am super careful & can't wait to get off them.
I will tell you I took half a xanax for the anxiety when I got out of the car. Heck I was a nervous wreck. Don't you find it funny the doc's lecture about the meRAB, but move slow as a turtle trying to get control of the problem.

I am glad you both have hope with the chiro & injections, I am going to try the massage therapy (hope insurance will pay) then maybe chiro, beats sitting around waiting for doc's to make up their minRAB. I am sure you both understand how bad I want my life back. My husband starts radiation tuesday, he will be tired & I need to be able to contribute more so I can't sit & wait anymore. I don't want him worrying about things I want him to focus on himself. wish me luck, Sammy

Norene, wow sounRAB like you swell up like me, what is the B-27 gene, and is what your speaking of hard to diganos? Because I'll tell you I have been doctor to doctor, the last couple days have been miserable, I am so swollen I could not get my dress off last night, my husband pulled it over my head by time he got it off I was in tears. I heard a crack in my scapula area thursday evening while changing the sheets on my bed, every since then the pain is out of this world, Same thing happened last week, heard a cracking or snapping sound same area that day the pain was unbearable. Does that ever happen to you? I have had it in the neck, I told my rehab. doc last visit about the neck & he said it was because I am so inflammed, all the pressure. Well what ever is going on it is getting worse. I swear I could feel the swelling all way up to my collarbone & even the right side by my scapula was hurting, that never happens. It hurts to breath, I am getting sharp searing pains in the chest area. Like knife pains, I know I am about as inflammed As I have ever been. My movement of the left side with the shoulder area is extremely limited when I am swollen up bad. I'll tell you if this pain gets any worse not so sure I can handle it. I don't know how to get through to these doctors how painful it is. They can see some of it, but I am going to tell him it is getting out of control. My ribs feel huge. Weird feeling. Thanks so much for the info. Exactly how were you diagnosed & by what doctor? Sammy

We all have similar conditions. There has got to be a physiological explanation for our pain. We are not all nuts nor are we hypochondriacs. We have real similar pains that doctors cannot figure out because there are not a heckuva lot of specialists in this pain area.

I know my problem is probably related to my ruptured disc at T6-7 but epidural of that area showed no improvement whatsoever. I have seen diagrams showing what part of your body will be affected by which nerves and it coincided with the location of my ruptured disc. The question seems to be how should it be treated. I am also wondering if the osteophytes all along my t-spine could be part of the source of pain for me.

chab & chk, I do have disc problems but the docs. say not bad enough to cause all this pain & inflammation. That is what we are looking for the problem, or @ the very least the solution. My sister went through something simulair it took years before they repeated tests & found it was indeed the disks. She had the same problem in the breast & rib area. I wish my problem would just disaapear on its own, I would throw the biggest party just to celebrate being pain free. That time of the month has come around so everything is worse. I dread it. I plan on asking the doc . monday some questions although whether he will have answers or not is another story. I am going to insist some kind of treatment be attempted at the very least. My ROM is just getting worse on the left side. My work wants me to increase my hours, I do not even want to think about that. I told them I would let them know after mondays appointment. I am off to grab an ice pack, good luck ladies. Sammy

Sammy,
Did you ask him about AS and request the blood work?

Maybe you should find another Dr. You need to have confidence in your Dr.

Most Dr's will review part of your chart but if you have a significant file, it would take too much time to review the entire chart. So they will ask you questions to save some time rather than searching thru the chart.

Sammy, nice to hear from you, and yes...I have said the exact same thing...if I could go have surgery tomorow, I would be there bright and early! In fact, I say that to myself every night while I am tossing and turning in bed. Seems like nights are the worse, and when I first get up in the morning. After I move around a bit, and get my shower, I loosen up a little, but never get rid of the pain completely. Having surgery is really a very hard decision, and from what I have read, some people end up not getting any relief anyway....so, that makes a decision even harder. But, at this point, I really don't know what else to do. I understand what you mean about "pity parties", and I think all of us on here should have them...we deserve them! I think my hubby is getting disgusted with me because I don't want to go anyplace. I want to.....just can't! But, I hope you find something out tonight when you have the MRI..that should show what is going on with you.
Please post as soon as you know something.

Meantime, take care, and know that I, as well, as others, are thinking of you and sharing in your frustration. Good luck to you.

Judy

Hello everybody. I am fairly new here and have spent most of the day reading all the pages on this post. Of course, I had to take several breaks in-between.

I cannot remeraber but a small portion of what I read but it seems a lot of it was the Thoracic Spine. Have any of you done a search on Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, or TOS.

I go to another board also and one of the girls on there just found out she had it. They did a C-Spine surgery on her and she is back to work...I think part time...She has low back issues also. If I can catch her online, I will ask her all I can about it and post it if I can find you guys again. As I said, I am fairly new here and still trying to learn the way the board operates..

I am also bothered in the T-Spine area, and was told in 2003 that I have a 13 degree Scoliosis with a 13 degree curvature in my spine. I also have C-Spine and L-Spine issues. I guess I could say from the neck to my tailbone! Recently my younger Sister found out she also it, but didn't know what degree. I know mine is minor, comparatively speaking.

I will be going back to my Dr. pretty soon to try and have a MRI of my entire spine. He is a new Dr. to me as mine of 25 years retired in '06. He will not give out any Narcotic meRAB. I am on Tramadol 50mg 4 times a day. I am going to ask him if he will increase my dose. I have been on this dose for a very long time and I think I have become intolerant to it. I am a Workers Comp (WC) case, so any med changes or MRI'S would have to be approved through them first.....hate dealing with them, but we have no choice....

I was injured in a mild fender bender while working as a Courier in 1987. It has been a very long road. I am now 61 and was approved for my SSD last year. They disabled me as of '04, so my Medicare kicked in June of this year.

I am not working and my hubby is not either. He had a stroke in '01 and is not able to work. It gets a little rough sometimes, but when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. (We have no other choice)...

I am thinking about asking my Dr. to prescribe a house cleaner for me...and WC pay for it. Have any of you ever had this done or asked your Dr. to give you a RX for it???

I also live in a Split-Foyer style house, which means I have a total of 16 stairs to come up and down daily, several times a day. I have even thought about asking for a RX for a chair lift to assist me, and WC pay for it too. That would certainly be a lot easier on me than having to pack and move..someone stick a fork in me I'm done, if I had to move...it would do me in for sure.

I am writing a book...sorry about that, but all of your posts/replies intrigued me and I could so relate to everything being said.

Do a search on the two that I listed and see if this sounRAB like you...also look up the worRAB "DERMATOME CHART". That will also tell you a lot.

Will hopefully talk to y'all later. I am not on everyday, but want to keep up with some of ya.

Take care, and may God give each of you some peace and comfort.

Brenda

thanks guys, off to the doc. today. the pain under my left breast woke me up this morning. I did not want to get out of the bed. Got to go to work to.
Using one hand this morning, I think I have reached my limit. I have no choice but to give the doc a push. Had to talk my husband out of going with me, he is so upset, he wants something done now. He said he cant take seeing me in this pain any more. I am alittle worried that this doc. will drag his feet. At this point I am barely hanging on to my job, not to mention being able to control this pain. If today does not convince this doc. to do something fast then I am at the wrong doctors, because honestly I can't take it anymore. If it was not for the understanding I get on these boarRAB I would go crazy from all this pain & dealing with these docs. The doctors just get me more confused. I know I want this shoulder looked at more closely, what ever happened last week with the snapping in the scapula/shoulder area has sent this problem raging out of control. talk to you later wish me luck with this doc. sammy

Judy, just caught that part about waking up with burning, feels like like heart jumping around bi, I have had that also, except my heart will race like crazy, I have acic reflux, I try real hard not to eat at night, but yes feels like muscles are in spasm to, I hurry up and grab the rolaid compleate, scary feeling huh, wakes you up right out of your sleep. My sister in law was in the hospital for cancer and she had terrible gas pain (sometimes a good belch helps relieve some pressure) she said it got so bad she doubled over, they gave her gigerale(canada dry or vernours) worked like a charm she said. I am going to get some to keep in house, also said the hospital gave her gingerale mixed with prune juice to go to the bathroom, worked to, said taste ok, figure all these people on meRAB. might like that little suggestion.

Hi, I swell in the rib and breast area all the time. I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. The swelling in this area is from my spine and ribs inflamming at the same time and cause the breasts to swell.( which I do not need more of). I too live and sleep with ice and am currently taking celebrex.
hope you are better. Norene

Hi Everyone..I am going to start a new post as this one is getting very long. I hope you all will follow the new post. I read the rules and from what I understood, a post shouldn't have too many threaRAB. So, hope you all will seek out the new post.

Thanks!

Chablis- I have appointments with some highly recommended doctors coming up. I asked one of my docs about his experience with thoracic surgery and he gave me a complete attitude. This meant he didnt do too many of them. We have rare and painful injuries. I will dig this country for the surgeons who can handle us and will let you and everyone know. I will also let you know who to keep away from if the board will allow.

Thanks mammy, big doc. appointment today, have feeling more tests. I just don't want him looking @ me shaking his head like Gee I don't know. Your are indeed blessed with your husband. That is true love. I know when my sister in law was diagnosed with cancer a few month ago she said her husband never left her side while she was in the hospital, only to go to work. She said she never realized how much he loved her, she said she was blessed to have him. When you are in this kind a position it tests your love. I know I feel guiltly being only 42 & holding us back with enjoying certain things & being able to work more. I pray I can get that back. I feel for everyone here, some of us are somewhat of a medical mystery, the hardest thing is not knowing. I don't want them slapping a name on it because they don't know what is truely wrong. Being misdianosed is not going to help the real problem. Please pray for me also. Sammy

hey CH.bone spurs generally wont 'cause' pain in and of themselves, only when they are directly affecting a nerve or grow into the foramen and start causing stenosis within it,or of course if they are affecting the cord itself.they would have to be directly affecting one of the above for you to actually feel that they even exist.just how severe is your herniation.that alone could be the issue, espescially if it is covering the dermatome that correlates with it.i myself have had at least about one hundred TP injections(between 15-20 per visit) just over the past few years since my hell began back in 01/02,some worked some didn't.can you actually feel the TPs back there, little waRAB of tissue/muscle there?these are generally caused by the ongoing inflammation going on within the nerves at your herniation site.the nerves get inflammed and in turn start irritating the heck outta the muscles back there.that is what actually creates TPs.i,if i got any relief at all, would usually get it from the injections around day two or three.sometimes they work and sometimes they don't do squat.it kind of depenRAB on if you actually have real TPs and if they were responsible for actually generating pain for you.a tennis ball placed between your back(inside a sock)and a nice solid wall so you can roll it around and into those TPs really works rather well to calm things down for me when it gets kind of ugly back there.its always worth a shot.its about the closest i could come to to replacing the hanRAB of my therepist when my ins co said i was not making enough 'progress" to justify them continuing to pay, despite the fact it was working so well for my pain.i guess the pain relief part doesn't matter to the ins co.

what types of docs have you consulted so far?what have you been given as far as any realtreatment options?what is the extent of your herniation(what does it state in the MRI summary?)?depending on how severe the herniation actually is and just what is being affected would in turn kind of dictate the type of treatment options availiable to you.if you could actually post that info it would help alot.Marcia

Chab, I am being sent to rehab. doc, autoammune DX also brought up so maybe rhuematologist in future, leaving it up to rehab doc. for now. Other doc changed meRAB around so all messed up again. Pain, Pain, Pain. Yep, I am a mystery docs know something wrong but yet to find it. Getting pretty fed up, back to work or I can kiss my job goodbye, husband starting radiation soon, can only get better. I hope the rehab. doc is not on vaction next week cause oddly enough the surgeon I just seen is, pretty weird huh, must be doctors national week off, don't know where you live, but weird. I would be so frustrated if I were you, I sure hope you can get a hold of someone, docs. should have someone on call for them don't you think? Good Luck & let me know what happens. Sammy PS,only pain not having today is pelvic pain, perhaps inflammtion from other area causing it, or infection still.

Chab,I understand what you are trying to say, really can't say, I do know it happens so fast out of the blue at times, usually with the pain or muscle spasms. Doc say thinks bodies way of responding to pain, although I do know If I don't watch what I eat (bad @ night) It can really kick in, I know I am swollen in rib and Chest area always thought maybe has something to do with it. All I know I hope it stops, if I discover whats wrong & conrtolled that and the reflux and tachycardia went away I would be able to say it is directly linked. I am holding hope. Sammy
