Seeking head and neck pain advice

I am 22 years old and I have been experiencing pain in the back of my neck for as long as I can remember. It feels as if I constantly need to crack my neck, shoulders and wrists, which results in me tilting my head back and forth excessively and stretching my arms and wrists out. About 8 years ago I went to my family doctor for an opinion. The blood work came back normal and I was told that it may just be a habit. Today the neck pain is accompanied with sporadic quick sharp pains in my temples and severe headaches after naps that rather quickly subside. I also occasionally wake in the middle of the night in a panic from extreme pain in my head and neck that goes away after about 5 minutes. I can't live with this anymore. Please advise

Hi, Bdv . . . years ago I lifted an entertainment center which pinched nerves in my neck and shoulder. I had chiropractic treatment for it then but was told at the time that it would come back to haunt me.

I now have osteoarthritis of the neck and shoulders with pinched nerve involvement. Some regular doctors may not know how to check for pinched nerves or problems with the joints and vertebrae. I would recommend talking to the office of a neurologist first. They would be able to diagnose a pinched nerve if that is what it is or recommend who you should see if it is musculoskeletal in nature.

Let us know how it goes!

Well, my blood work all came back to be normal. At my visit my doctor prescribed me Meloxicam, because I had "severe swelling and pressure in my neck" which I read is used to treat Rheumatiod Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. I am waiting to hear back about what my x-rays show and after that possibly go back for an MRI. I took the Meloxicam for the past two days now and it is definitely helping me. It relieves the stiffness and pressure in my arms, head and neck. I hope to find some sort of clarity after hearing back from the doctor today. I'm sooo tired of living like this. Thank you for your response.
