Seeking car like Toyota ECHO?

My 01 Toyota Echo was hit by an SUV, and no longer is with us. I am looking for a similar car, with MIN 35mpg, and roughly the same size. But Used... Any ideas are helpful.
Under $7,000 which most Echos fall under.
