Security Flaw Is Revealed in T-Mobile

Just days after the T-Mobile G1 smartphone went on the market, a group of security researchers have found what they call a serious flaw in the Android software from that runs it. One of the researchers, Charles A. Miller, notified Google of the flaw this week and said he was publicizing it now because he believed that cellphone users were not generally aware that increasingly sophisticated smartphones faced the same threats that plague Internet-connected personal computers.

Mr. Miller, a former National Security Agency computer security specialist, said the flaw could be exploited by an attacker who might trick a G1 user into visiting a booby-trapped Web site.

Security has always been paramount with RIM, and they provide the ONLY platform suitable for enterprise from that standpoint.
 
Eh, just don't be clicking on random links in emails. Not too difficult. Nothing a wipe won't fix, because of the "sandbox" nature of apps..

They'll be pushing out an update soon anyways. No biggie.
 
Good info. Not that I plan on purchasing a G1, but still good info.

Also it kills me they call the iphone an "advanced smartphone". When I think of "advanced smartphone", the first thing that pops in my head isn't an "iphone"!
