Secure Digital Card - 1GB $103.99

Wow. Thanks for the heads-up. That really is amazing- shows real progress in "upping the capacity" and "lowering the price" of solid state memory.

Just a bit of a disclaimer: I've had problems and have heard of other people having problems with buy.com, as far as ordering and timeliness.

My ONLY reservation is . . . . it's a SanDisk. If it were 2x price for Panasonic, I'd probably snap it up. Just don't trust SanDisk AT ALL.

Remember comrades, that a LOT of information on one little card that could be "sneezed into a diner restroom toilet;" BE SURE and back it up with drag/drop Card Reader efficiency and BURNED to a CD -- I certainly wouldn't want to lose the info on my SD256 and "take a snapshot of it" about every 2 weeks.

Tracking number shows package in transit. I've ordered many items over the last year or so from Buy.com with no problems so far. Either Buy.com has awesome problems or they stink BIG time.

I ended up picking up this card after *shocker* discovering my Windows Mobile PDA needs a lot more breathing room than 512MB :)

Last I saw the Sandisk (aka Sand-disk) SD issues were T3 only related and I scanned the Windows Mobile forums and no one (so far) reports any issues.

PS - nice to drop in and visit old friends here :D

FWIW, I've also made a number of purchases from buy.com without any problems. I also have three Sandisk products, a CF card, a memory stick, and an SD card. All have performed well over the past year although the SD card is slower than my Lexar SD card. My Sandisk CF and SD cards are 512 mb. I have read of more problems with 1 gb cards in general and Sandisk card in particular but I have to wonder how many of these problems are the fault of the card or the operating system, which just gets more unstable when you're accessing a 1 gb card? Just musings on my part but it seems like I hear of lots of problems with 1 gb and larger cards and much fewer problems with smaller cards.

I just checked out prices in the Uk (ebuyer.co.uk) and was actually amazed at how much they'd dropped since I last looked.
256 ?14.99
512 ?33.99
1GB ?67.55

Admittedly, the actual manufacturers of these cards are unknown to me...but still. I'd be adequate for music/video storage/playback, whatever the manufacturer was.
