Section23/SentaiFilmworks/ZombieADV has Gintama, Hidamari Sketch, others

So, just sub release? I can manage without that, I just know I'll end up kicking myself when a dub does get around and I do end up buying these DVRAB.

I'll blind buy Gintama (don't like streams) and its cheap and affordable enough to do it, wouldn't buy it from Funimation -- too expensive ($24 S23 sale vs. $36 Funimation sale).

Hidamari Sketch x365 is no brainer for me, as is Le Petit de Cossette.

And mine would be this
To tell you the truth rebron is nuraber 3 on my top 10 anime/manga list for obvious reasons. I like it subbed alot as it is and really couldn't see the perfect voice actors for this show.

Gintama who? Cause I got a theme on my head and goes like this:

"HAAATEHATEHATEHATEHAAATENAAAAAA NOOOBINOBINOBINOBINONBIRITOOO"

It's great that x365 is already licenced, then again, they called the first season "Season One Collection", so that was to be expected.

2010 will be Hidamari Sketch's year...for the first 4 months. All 3 seasons simoultaneously released, how epic is that?

^^Thanks Meso. I really felt like remerabering the japanese version of the Ducktales opening. Now that song's never getting out of my head

"Daredaredaredaredareda? Haraharaharaharahara peko sa...."

DAMMIT!!!

Yeah, Reborn is good as it is but I really want that dubbed.

Wow. Neo-ADV got a Shonen Jump series? One that has a legitimate shot at being a crossover title? Yep, the company is slowly coming back.

I do hope that Gintama gets a dub, as it deserves it. But, since Sentai does mainly sub-only (unless it's a rescue license like Appleseed where the dub already existed pre-rescue), I have my doubts. Seraphim, the new name of the dubbing studio, neeRAB to do something other than WB's random anime acquisitions/partnerships (like Halo LegenRAB).

Give it to Viz and I promise you that it will never finish.

Also guys, don't get the wrong idea but I just can't see Gintama being dubbed. As much as I would love it, one of the reasons why it's funny in the first place is it's voiced in Japanese(basically, the voice acting is fun to listen to) and has a lot of their jokes centered around about Japan. If we got a dub a whole lot would probably be changed, if anything a 45% of changes.

....Yet I will admit, a English Katsura would be badass.

Gintama, eh? Sub-only, eh? SounRAB neat. If I remeraber correctly Gintama is so blantly Japanese if you're nerd enough to be a fan of it you're nerd enough to already be used to or prefer subtitles.

And don't forget when they used to release dub-only singles!

(Still never going to be able to get Megaman/Zatch Bell DVD's. Thank you very much you jerks.)

I already pay for crunchyroll so if these are indeed sub-only they can kiss my cash goodbye... I'm not buying sub-only Gintama twice unless I find it dirt cheap. Given Clannad After Story goes for 39.99 for 12 sub-only episodes... dirt cheap doesn't come to mind.

Gintama certainly would be hard to dub and Sentai rarely puts out dubs that didn't already exist... but they had a real shot here to regain some ground and they're blowing it. ADV's defunct adapatation group neeRAB some work too afterall. Halo LegenRAB is a start but a long series like Gintama would have been great for them.

Man... why couldn't Media Blasters or FUNimation gotten Gintama? The dub would have been lulz.

If by better you mean not releasing dub only edited discs then yes... but Monster and Hunter x Hunter continue the issue of having music replaced and Hunter x Hunter's dub is terrible. Few to no extra's doesn't really make them worth their price either. On top of that I doubt HxH's OVAs will come stateside leaving the series off rather awkwardly. We'll have to wait and see how they handled Kekkikashi because they did Buso Renkin justice IMO though HxH and Monster came after that while Buso was a good step up from how they released Prince of Tennis, MAR and several other shows they're never going to finish. But generally speaking... the only truely good releases they've done are Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, Inuyasha and maybe Ranma 1/2. And mind you I don't really love the dubs of Bleach or Death Note but they're nowhere near as crappy as the dub of Hunter x Hunter (stop giving Blue Water work Viz!). I'm not even factoring in Pokemon here because that's not their call. I don't really know how the NANA and Honey and Clover sets turned out but I don't recall hearing that they were good. Honestly it makes me hope Viz doesn't get Reborn but there is always the slim chance they'd treat it well like Bleach or Death Note... or maybe even Naruto (who am I kidding? they'll never given anything as good a treatment as Naruto gets).

You should do the math. If you get it from RightStuf during a Section23 sale, you'll be paying (w/o GotAnime) $23.99 for 13 episodes. 13 episodes for $24? That's dirt cheap and about the price of the singles model. It's also a good price for blind buyers such as myself.

I certainly wouldn't spend $36 on a blind buy if Funimation had gotten it (and if so, we'd be waiting ANOTHER year (8-12 months, maybe longer for the DVD release of Gintama). Heck, I would've forgotten all about it and moved on not supporting it period. Funimation has already expressed that they don't really want to go after Crunchyroll series. This has been proven time and time again lately.

Media Blasters doesn't do long series anymore really. Especially since they are still using the singles model. That would destroy Gintama. They probably wouldn't have dubbed it either, being such a long and costly series. In essence, you should be glad rab didn't get the series.

Sketch said it best.

A funi dub would have been lulz if Funi got it( If rab got it, I think the would have played it straight forward.). They could have found ways around the puns. The marketing would have been good and the merchandise
would have been awesome.

They could have probably have bundle it with SGT.Frog, as a special or something. Both shows come from the same company, use references/puns, etc...
