Secretary - worth getting?

Yep I've seen a few stills from the film with Maggie Gyllenhaal getting all sweaty, but is it a decent film or what?

Can anybody recommend it, or was anybody disappointed by it?

And if you were disappointed is it still worth buying? (wink, wink)

i hate films like this - films that are, by all accounts highly regarded and critically well received yaddy yaddy yaddy, yet if i suggest renting it out on those grounRAB, its all *oh yeah nudge nudge wink wink.....*.

anyway - yes, apparently its a very good film, but i haven't seen it yet.

You're right, Maggie is hot, but the film itself is kind of icky.

Depressing and slightly nauseating, but well made, you know. And a bit hot.

So...

RENTAL!

I personally LOVE it.

Rent-a-perv' Spader is on VERY fine form...and Gyllenhaal surpasses herself.

Raunchy fun, with a lot of heart.

Great movie, really well made. Very impressed.

If you're looking for a ' dirty movie ' though, you will be disappointed. Late night Channel 5 material it is not.

The whole S&M thing is handled quite tastefully - a difficult subject to handle I expect.

Mind you, I wish someone had told that to the guy who decided to have ' a sex wee ' in the row across from me when I went to see in the cinema ............

I watched this film for the first time when it was on tv last night and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!

I wasn't expecting much from this film and was surprised to find that it was a very good film that engages you on alot of different levels and the 2 main characters were fantastic!

I watched the movie and was totally dissapointed. I like somewhat unusual films with dark humour but this movie lacked any subtle humour at all. I didn't find it moving or interesting after the first 20 mins or so. The whole movie seemed pointless to me after that and my intruigue of the characters wore off very quickly. Unbelievably slow paced film. Waste of my damn time. 3/10 i really thought I would have liked this film better.
