Building on my previous question regarding buyers rights when purchasing second hand cars posted under the same name (minus the 2). In brief the cars got faulty electrics which have been bodged together using a short wire on the fuse box. The sellers gave us a receipt with a company logo on it. They gave us the impression that they were car dealers who were selling the car because it was over 5 years old and lacking the service history (should have walked away at that, I know). I've run a search for the business on several directory sites and it is not present. Because they have put a company name on the receipt would they fall under business legislation concerning fair trading? I've scanned through a few business acts and I understand that you have very few rights when buying privately, but quite a few when purchasing through a business. They can't claim the bought as seen shtick because its illegal under Consumer Transaction Order 1976 & Fair Trading Act. What we want to happen is for them to pay for the repairs to the car, totaling around £500. Any help much appreciated (UK law)
