Second guessing looking over the shield

I took an exit off the highway on my Road King and rounded the free right hand turn and got up to about 35 mph only to run into a set of balloons on a string that had got away from the Firestone store I just passed. The balloons were on such a long string, I never saw them and only saw the string as it passed over my 17" windshield. Next thing I knew, the string was draped across my face, slicing into my skin as it burned me. I mananged to get it off my face with my left hand. It stung like crazy.

I was wearing a half helmet, but even with a full face, I would have had the visor up with the heat right now, so it still could have got me across the nose and under the glasses. I didn't need stitches, but I am a little concerned that it might scar because it is as much a burn as a cut. The marks go from cheek to cheek and under my nose. Looks like I am recovering from a knife fight that I didn't win.

Anyway, this makes me consider a shield I look through to avoid other stuff like rocks or what ever from drilling me in the face.

Damn, I don't even have a good tough guy biker story out of this... "Yeah, I remember this time I ran into a string of balloons and barely survived". That will really impress people.

Oh, yes I went back and chewed on the guys at Firestone. They took the rest of their balloon down and offered to pay any medical bills.

You gotta learn that there are times when good lies cover up for things that might feel embarrassing...

Some chic at a bar got mad cuz I wouldn't buy her a beer for the bj in the parkin lot and then laid into my face with a straight razor.

LMAO....I can just see your tombstone...Killed by a runaway balloon...It was red and he wound up dead!!!
You just can't make this shiot up!!!
Glad you are alright....
And Crok....Somehow i BELIEVE your story.....LOL....

Oh Yes, I look thru my windshield.I can raise up to see over it if i must but have no problem looking thru it....I'm sure i have saved an eye or at least a tooth or two...

I don't look thru mine either. But here lately I keep thinking about how sometimes those rocks will come out of nowhere and bust your car windshield. They sound like you been shot! (been there and done that so I do know how that sounds) And I think, if that happened on a bike, and it hit you right between the eyes, if it didn't kill you out right, (think David v. Golieth here) it would knock you out and you would wreck, which could kill you anyway. Soooo, even though I do not like looking thru the shield, I have been considering this dilemma.
