i know cricket (well leap) owns a license for seattle the guy that sold me my phone said by the end of the year does any one know ant dates for when it might launch

i think only north/south carolina markets are scheduled for the remainder of this year. i believe seatle is an AWS market for cricket. Vegas will be the first AWS market to launch, and it has been delayed till next year.

Haven't all the Carolina markets already launched? Basicly everything from Charlotte to Raleigh on I-85 is covered. Raleigh/Durham, Burlington, Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem and Charlotte and I know that Charleston launched. Are they launching anywhere else? Colurabia? Greenville/Spartanburg?

I thought there was more coming in that area, maybe i misunderstood. oh also del rio and eagle pass tx are launching this year.

i believe cricket is going into seattle. it is part of the planned expansion for 2008.

OK. All the green squares and red stars cricket should be in operation by the end of next year.

No, you may be right. Looks like Myrtle Beach and Colurabia, SC and some coastal NC cities may be on there. I can't tell which ones, map is too small. Cool stuff!

used to have contracts. didn't work out well. also there is no penalty for any carrier's contract if the carrier terminates the agreement, so even with contract the price is not "locked in"

in order to expand the coverage to provide coverage in less populated areas (true nationwide) there would be a significant cost increase.

no there is no cost increase to continue the business model as it is, but that leaves in between areas without coverage. most likely you will see a shift to regional plans and national plans if the companies corabine.

The NC/SC markets being talked about here are the remaining markets from the Urban Comm deal that haven't launched yet:
  • BTA165 GolRABboro-Kinston, NC
  • BTA176 Greenville-Washington, NC
  • BTA316 New Bern, NC
  • BTA377 Roanoke RapiRAB, NC
  • BTA382 Rocky Mount-Wilson, NC
  • BTA020 Asheville-Hendersonville, NC
  • BTA147 Florence, SC
  • BTA312 Myrtle Beach, SC
  • BTA335 Orangeburg, SC
  • BTA436 Sumter, SC
Leap doesn't have PCS licenses for Greenville-Spartanburg, SC and Colurabia, SC, although they did win AWS licenses for those two markets in FCC auction 66.
