Season One Appreciation Thread #1: I'm buying all the hot dogs.

I liked "Friends", but it's not quite there for me. But I didn't watch the entire run, to be fair.
 
Same here. I'm surprised at how hard I laughed at "Jack-tor". And it is weird to all the old relationships before they formed.

I miss some of the characters we used to see more of, like Josh, Twofer, and Pete.
 
I never really watched Friends (I've seen the first season and some episodes here and there), but from what I know of it, I'd definitely put it in the same category.
 
I can definitely see how both AD and The Simpsons would be in that same category. It's pretty cool to be able to put 30 Rock in a category with such (IMO) great shows of comedy. It really is a testament to the quality of the show. :nod:
 
I have to say, having the viewing party has really given me a new appreciation for season 1. Well, maybe not a new appreciation, but it has reminded me of my old appreciation. I just can't believe how amazing it was, all the way back to the first episode. I'm especially loving seeing where all of the relationships started out (Pete being Liz's confidant, Jack and Liz being "friendly" as opposed to best friends, Jenna hating Tracy). It's a lot of fun to go back and rewatch these old episodes.
 
I'm gonna have to say that "Black Tie" is my fave. Paul Reubens need to come back, maybe Price Gerhardt could have a twin :P
 
The only other shows I think that are like that for me is The Simpsons and Arrested Development. I never thought I'd find another show like those. :)
 
Agreed, the show never gets old for me either. Its probably the only show, with the exception of one or two, that I can watch over and over and over again--just a testament to the quality of the show! :nod:
 
That definitely made sense, Pia! I just got the DVDs (finally!), so I've been watching more episodes and showing them to my parents (who don't usually like to watch TV on the computer, and have therefore not seen some episodes from season 1 and 2). As we're watching them, I find myself not getting tired of watching them over and over. I've probably watched Black Tie 3 times in the past week (once because I wanted to watch it, once to watch the commentary, and then once because my mom wanted to see it), but I'm still not sick of it. This show never gets old. :D
 
I didn't realize we had this thread! Wow, season one was so good. That was definitely my favorite season so far. Season 3 will be a contender, but I'm waiting until the season is over to make final judgment on it. Still, I loved season 1. There was just something about learning about all of the characters as new characters on a new show that was fun and hilarious. What is everyone's favorite season 1 episode? I'm torn between "Black Tie" and "Hiatus."
 
Reminisce here about how it all began, from Liz buying all the hot dogs to joking (I think ;)) about pulling the plug on Jack!
