Searching for good free news reader app on my smartphone

Good and free is a tall order :) I've tried a few, are you looking for something simple and easy to use? I've had some bad experiences...

Hey Gospoo, thanks.

I've tried to read some of my favourite news sites (which I look at on my pc) on my Treo , but they are hard to use on this screen. WAY to much going on.

So yeah simple would be good. Just a nice condensed list of current news.

Any one?

The best one I found, (actually a friend introduced it to me). It's called Pocket Express. If you do some searching you will find it. I tried to post the link but since I am new I need to post some more before I have the rights to post links. I think the maker is Handmark. Best part is it's free.

Here is a clue to a link, since I can't post the link.

tinyurl period com slash attexpress

let me know what you think.

I use Pocket Express by Handmark for stocks and news on my ATT tilt. I have been using it for sometime and love the ease of use!!

Thanks guys for that link. I have been using Pocket Express for the last few days and it's been great. Not only did it have the news reader I was looking for, it has weather, stocks, sports, maps, ringtones, games and other stuff I haven't even had time to look at yet!

I've been looking for a lot of these features but I didn't think I would be able to get them all in one piece of software. But with Pocket Express it's all there.

I really like the blog you get with Pocket Express called Red's Blog. It's great.

Anyway sorry for gushing so much, but this software has improved my mobile experience so much, I have to thank you for showing it to me.

Any one reading this can download it here:

Did anyone read the post on Red about the new college football season? Good reading, check it out here, or get pocket express and read it on right on your phone!

I've been using pocket express on my att phone for awhile but I just now discovered that I've been using only half the app. On the left side are a couple of tabs. One is "page one" where I've always spent my time, but the other is called "extras." Although these are mostly paid experiences, There are some pretty good ones worth perusing.

Hey Cornelial,

Thanks for pointing that out. I use extras quite a bit to download games. They have some pretty fun ones on there, they also offer ringtones, but I never bother with that. But I'm sure that other people would be really interest in this.

One of the best features is that if you download a game and then want to free up some space. You can delete it and Pocket Express remembers that you have purchase it. So you can download it again whenever you want. Pretty cool :smart:

Hteahen (Pocket Express expert!!)

Looks like you use pocket express quite a bit. I have never bought tickets on my phone. But I think you can buy it through Pocket Express. Do you have any experience buying tickets? Do they bill you outright through credit card or will they charge it to your phone bill?

If it's the phone bill, that would be pretty cool:cool:

Hi PrakashC,

It gets charged to your credit card, but I don't think is such a bad thing as I think having separate expenses is easier in terms of accounting.

Benefits that you do get from purchasing tickets through Pocket Express are
1) It remembers your details so you don't have to struggle with entering credit card data all the time on your handset
2) You have access to all the movie details at your finger tips. Any time any place.
3) You can book your ticket on the run.

:)
