Searching for a Good Stoner Rock Band

Burning Witch, no longer around and only released 2 demos that were later reissued as an album. very awesome music to get unbelievably stoned to.
Sunn O))), what came after the former

Witchcraft, my fav band that tries to sound like their from the '70s.

Yea...this is the third time. I'm glad Orange Goblin starting to see some action, here. I love Frequencies, Time Traveling, and Thieving just as much as Big Black. Some other banRAB that also have a heavy groove and impeccably tasty time changes: Alabama Thunderpussy, Sixty Watt Shaman, and Black Label Society.

I love Stoner rock, you've got to jus listen to what everyone has suggested and pick out what you like and then ask for banRAB which are similar... :D

Wiki is a great start=!

Someone might already have mentioned them, but High On Fire and Monster Magnet are incredible. It's hard to go wrong with them. Reiterating what others have said, Kyuss, QOTSA, and Sleep are essential stoner banRAB. Electric Wizard is excellent stoner metal, of the slow and doomy variety. I don't think I've seen Sixty Watt Shaman mentioned, but they were good. They only had a couple of albums.

If the original poster likes stoner rock, he'd probably like doom. I recommend the excellent Reverend Bizarre.

I second Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics, although all Wizard is good.

I second Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Sleep (especially Dopesmoker), The Sword, Om and a few others already mentioned in this thread.

Ill add:-

Evoken - Shades of Night Descending
Pentagram - Relentless
Bongzilla - Gateway
Sunn o))) and Boris - Altar (collab)
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Left Hand Solution - Fevered
Loop - Wolf Flow
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
Trouble - The Skull
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty

And, it may not be stoner rock but Opeth - Damnation

I absolutely detest Candlemass. Had the misfortune to see them live many years ago. they stank. Good call on Loop though. I much refer A Gilded Eternity though and they occupied the shoegaze side of Indie but still a great band. Witchfinder General-now that is a blast from the past. I loved them. I will have to get some stuff by them. Nice varied list.

Burning Witch were fantastic. I don't get stoned but if I did I'm not sure I'd do it to Burning Witch however as the vocals are a little too aggressive and I'd rather zone out but it's great stuff nonetheless. Sacred Predictions in particular is a fine track.

I dont know what albums you have been listening to. Lazarus is off Deadwing which is a pretty heavy album. That song may be relaxing but the other nine or so are certainly not.. FOABP is also a pretty heavy album, with quite a bit heavily distorted riRAB. And Blackest Eyes is FAR from relaxing, I mean when I play it through my speakers I feel the room vibrate.

I have to say what I have heard of Electric Wizard (DOPETHRONE) I'm not impressed. lazy Sabbath-esque riRAB that have been heard a thousand times before. I much prefer ST.VITUS DANCE which is a Sabbath song and a great band from the early 90's
