SE w580i "metro pink"

Hey my g/f saw this phone and she says she has to have it. I called SE but they said it is only sold over seas. Is there a place online I can order this phone?

I am in the USA and a att wireless customer.

If I do order one and get it unlocked is it still going to work on the system here seeing that the phone was built for over there?

It should be possible, but you'd need to make sure it's on the correct GSM band for it to work. I'm from UK, so sorry but I don't know the US band, but I do know it's something different lol.
 
well some guy at work had this phone in black and his wife has it in white. My g/f liked it so I looked it up on the net and she saw it came in pink so I pretty much had to get it for her for xmas but shhhhh. I told her that I can't get it and that it is only sold in the UK.. trying to make myself look like a studmuffin. plus she gets anything she wants and she knows it.
 
ha ha ok thanks master for the info.. I will have to check to see what band I am on. Or maybe just tell my girl that she is out of luck and get me a new phone instead =)
 
:laugh:You go stud! As long as it gets you closer to her, then go for it. And if gets you the special taco, even better:smart:.

But like Dalton stated, pink...blech. And I'm not really into the fact that it has almost virtually the same specs as other 2MP Walkman phones out there right now. I think it's overpriced for something that has been done over and over, but it's just in a different form factor.
 
Well, I've just done a little research for you, and it turns out this phone has 'Quadband'. That means that it will work on the GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 and 1900 bands. The USA uses bands 850, and 1900. I'm almost 100% sure this phone will work where you are. See here for more info ;) .
 
your 100% right it is over priced.. I never thought I would spend this much on a phone but.... when she is happy we are happy
 
aww, nuts. Wish I had seen the pink one sooner, I just bought the white one and I love it, but link would be awesome. Maybe in six months, lol
 
If I may add my 2 cents... Sure the phone might be a quadband phone and we use quadband in the US and Canada but that doesn't mean all the features will work. Perhaps may I suggest emailing Sony Ericsson in the UK or who ever supplies them there and ask if you can purchase just the shell. Then bring it to your local repair shop and ask them to switch. Make sense??

Mobilecityonline.com .... it just won't let me link it. I got the phone in 3 days fedex. everything came with the phone that was suppose to come with it. My g/f loves it and has been showing it off at work and now some of the girls at work want one as well.
 
erm..the W580i is still basically the same, regardless of what region it is used for. It doesn't support UMTS data or video calling like most Europe/Asia models. Besides, it seems that the OP's gf wants one just for the looks and basic phone and text use.

Well, nevertheless Dalton, thanks for the reply - I'm stll trying to get my head round this band thing lol. Might wanna be careful about the phone update service though - I'm not sure whether this will be done via the location of the phone / SIM card, or the origin of the phone itself. However, it probably won't make too much difference, and like Peryus just said, it seems you only want to get the phone for basic text and talk. If for any reason I am wrong though, please correct me.
 
hey thanks for all the input. and thanks mastermind for taking your time to do some research for me about band. My g/f really doesn't do text all she does is talk... A LOT. I like your idea Dalton about just trying to get the shell of the phone..

here is an update for anyone wanting to buy the SE w580i in metro pink. Mobilecityonline.com has them for 360.00 unlocked. I just bought one today(12-4-07) and I did the 3 days shipping so it should be here by the end of this week or the start of next week. Their website says in stock so I will see and report back on how the company is on shipping and stuff.

LOL, that is what happens when you are up all night fighting insomnia. Went back and saw the link, thanks for reposting it though. Now I have to hold off for a couple of months since mine is only a couple weeks old.
 
Cool.. congrats. But for myself.. I think I'll have to pass on the "Metro Pink". Now if I could get Jet Black... then I'm in!! But Pink.. not in this lifetime.. lol.
 
Pretend you lost your W580i and force your BF to buy you the pink one, or else you'll dump him:cool:
