My contract with Fido just ended and im moving to rogers asap. Tho I will never do a contract again as I refuse to get locked into a commitment with a phone company so they can treat me like crap and get away with it.

So im buying a phone, im contemplating the Z520 and the W300. I want a flip because I cant stand candy bar phones, and I need good signal quality. Basically I need a phone, not a camera, not a portable gaming unit I have a psp for that, and I certainly dont need music, my ipod does that, so what I do need is a quality PHONE. Reception is an issue in some of the areas in my town so thats key. Also im headed to europe this summer for a few months and need a phone that will work on their GSM networks.

Appreciate any help.

I have a Z520a. LOVE the phone. I've never had any signal issues with it. It also feels very high quality. Good tactile feedback, nice plastics, etc. One of my favorite things about the phone, and this is going to sound weird, is that the flip hinge *click*s into place when you open or close it, which is very nice. Its better than other hinges that just kinda swing open but are loose. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a no-frills phone.

I dunno, I've used both my brothers z525a and my sisters w300i. So far no problem iwth the flip design on the w300i, it is more spring loaded than the click hinge, but at the same time the z525a has had to be XBM by cingular once for having a white screen, seems to be common with the design of the hinge. Not sure how it happens, but my friend's phone had the same problem and has had to get hers xbm twice.

But overall I guess it is what you pefer for the hinge design. And if you dont want a phone with orange on it also. RF wise, I am not sure, since I have not used both, only the z525 a bit more.
