douche.

how can u answer the pple about their money who donated in the last days when u offer a promo ? will u refund their money ? or u will just say , who pushed u to donate ?

don't u think some thousands of disputes gonna push u to make a refund ?

As the subject says, the site Scenetorrents will be closing at 10pm on the 29th November 2009.

IRC has been set so no invite is needed for people to talk and ofc there is the forums which will close tomorrow.

Take care,

Don't be a fucktard by linking me to my own post. You're missing the point by interpreting my statement that "Feeling posted *it* earlier" too narrowly. I really don't care who made it or what updates have been made to it. My point was directed at people who might not have any idea what it is, since I don't think it was explained in this thread. Perhaps someone would think SCT is back or a v2 or clone was started.

1.
By now most of you already know that ScT will be going offline permanently.
2.

3.
However, due to pending legal issues, we are not at liberty to speak freely about why we've chosen to take down the site.
4.
Members of our staff were arrested and will be undergoing the entire length of the judicial process.
5.
Obviously, in the case of criminal proceedings, it would be downright foolish to comment any further on the situation;
6.

7.
Please bear this in mind and wish them the best of luck.

There have been several theories as to where the donation money (of the recent months) has gone. We'd like to take this opportunity to put all skepticism to rest.
12.
The money was used to purchase new hardware that would ensure our spot as the fastest tracker on the net.
13.
You are free to perform whatever calculations you feel necessary, but in doing so it should become very clear that running a site of this stature costs money.
14.
We feel the overwhelming cynicism is just a product of bad timing compounded with general frustration caused by the current situation.
15.

16.

17.
We sincerely hope that you've enjoyed being a part of our wonderful community over the past 4 1/2 years.
18.
We've certainly enjoyed our members letting us be of service. We've always felt our user base played an equally important role in making SceneTorrents.org a model environment in the torrent world.
19.

20.

21.
The staff would also like to express their gratitude to fellow trackers for their support in such a chaotic time. Several well known communities have voluntarily opened their doors, and have offered our former users a new home.
22.
We appreciate the courtesy and acknowledge the steps being taken to move forward collectively as a community. Your assistance does not go unrecognized.

If it's any consolation the absurdity of the fact that I should even care what happens isn't lost on me .

I'm not that fussed myself... I'm not a member, although I wouldn't have minded being, so whatever happens has no impact on me...

It's never good to see another site shutting down though, regardless of the circumstances...

Go under the Archive tab, all those packs are free leech. I've already got 5GB uploaded after 12 hours, on a regular crappy cable connection.

Was about to say the same. Among the Archive and MP3/0-Day browse pages, they have over 33100 freeleech torrents.

@NEFARiUS: that'd make "R.I.?" :P

Just because they used a company to process paypal does not mean they were profiting. I believe pretome and other sites have had trouble with paypal because paypal suspected them of being involved in illegal activity. Using a company as a front makes sense for paypal. It would also make sense to rent the servers through the company to be careful.
