SCS removal

I am having my scs taken out next week and I am terrified about the pain it will cause.They will have to cut through scar tissue in 3 different areas to remove everything but I do not want to leave anything in.With an scs you can not have any mris or it can kill you but it was a risk I was willing to take for the relief from pain.I have been dealing with this since 2002 and when the depression gets too bad I have to shake myself and say there are people out there that are worse off than me.I have also been diagnosed with fbs and guessing that this is my life.I just turned 45 and have 2 young grandchildren and a 10 yr old girl.I keep myself going for them even tho it is not always easy.Duetdrpepper I wish I had your positive attitude and ability to soak up the knowledge that you do but thank goodness I can just get it from you here.Anyone wanting to get an scs ask about all the risks involved in having implant and try to be able to talk to people that have them first.
 
I'm so sorry to hear that the scs didn't work out for you. When did you get it implanted? I am currently on my 2nd trial...but still am not sure. I'd really like to trial the morphine pump and then compare the two. I'm only 29 though and still want children...I just wish I knew the right decision to make.

Why did your scs not work out for you??

I am sure you will feel better once it is removed if it isn't helping. Have you expressed all of your concerns to your doctor?

Also, what is your plan for managing the pain once the scs is removed??

You're not alone!

I've had 5 surgeries; the most serious was a two level fusion L5/L4 March 2007. Grew too much bone and had to have it shaved down in Deceraber 2007. Had an ANS/SCS implanted in Septeraber 2008.

Long story short, my doc hit a blood vessel (that's what he claims) during the surgery that woke me from a dead sleep. It felt like someone shot 500,000 volts of electricity down my leg. Since that time, I am still swollen at the site, have a great deal of pain and the nurabness in my legs has increased. The SCS is almost irritating at this point. I have an appointment tomorrow with the doc to see if one of the leaRAB shifted or if the swelling is the cause of the nurabness.
