How in the hell does this industry stay in business? They're scam artists. They make money by making you pay for a service that they shirk at all costs.

You pay them for coverage, yet if you need it, they make you pay more.

Lets try this in another field. If you hire a maid, and tell her to clean something, should she up her price by 20%?

You're paying for a service, but they wont GIVE you the service you paid for without punishing you for it.

I'm all for making people who cant drive pay more for insurance, it keeps my premiums down, but jesus christ, the first accident/claim should be penalty-free. :rolleyes:

I refuse to pay anything more than liability insurance.
 
You could save a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to Geico.

By the way, I was involved in a 5 car collision a few years ago, that completely totalled my car, involved several people going to the hospital, and stranded me on the New Jersey / Pennsylvania border.

My rates never increased. I was the 4th car in the collision.

Your company just blows nuts.
 
I dont know about geico, I tried getting a quote for my car and motorcycle, they wanted about $2000 a year for the motorcycle alone, whereas progressive quoted me for $500 a year on the bike and around a thousand a year for my car. But yea, lot of insurance companies try and get you to buy all the extra insurance which would only be good if you had like some high priced import car.
 
I bet the first car is paying out of his ass. Progressive is good for bikes. My friends paying 300 a month because he a dumb ass who has too many speeding tickets. Otherwise if your not a fault it's not really that bad. Just don't be a stupid driver, or they will fuck you.
 
For the record, Geico tryed to charge me 220 a month for full coverage, and farmers ins is 87 a month with towing. If you shop around on your own, and make the companies be competive, you will get better rates.
 
They stay in business because they're scam artists.

They charge even the best drivers, even though those drivers never get into accidents, and never cost the insurance companies anything.

Do they ever see that money again? No.
 
Insurance policies in general are designed to rip you off. It doesn't matter if it's for your car, home, life, health or whatever. They charge retarded prices for service in the event of an emergency. In most cases, with the possible exception of health insurance, you rarely use it, need it or reap any reward.

And, if something does happen, they jack up your rates. It's the most ridiculous payment most people pay. It frustrates me to no end. But, sadly it needs to be done. Just in case you need it.

In short, they got you by the short and curlies. And there ain't shit anyone can do about it but pay.

And here's another thing that pissed me the fuck off. Why wont they insure your car for LIABILITY ONLY if you need the insurance to drive it to the race track?

Now you may think it's ridiculous, ut it's not. The only responsible way to race is to take it to a track. Certainly they'd be hard-pressed to honor a claim for an accident at a drag strip in the first place, so why do they care if that's what the car is used for?

It's fucking liability insurance for christ's sake, if you wreck it in the wall, you pay for it, not them. And I will repeat. RACING AT THE RACETRACK IS THE RESPONSIBLE WAY TO DO IT.

But they'll insure morons who street race and get speeding tickets all day long. :rolleyes:


And I think I'm just pissy because I have to pay, I mean get raped, to insure a red sports car... :redface:

Esurance for the win. I've got a few points on my license for speeding tickets AND I was in a little parking lot fender bender (totally my fault) and my insurance hasn't gone up at all. Full coverage for $100/month. w00t.
 
Such as a Honda Civic with spinners and 10,000 worth of body mods. Gotta keep that engine stock, it just makes it sound all the sweeter (Read: Lawnmower).
