ScreenSelect rentals

At least they're honest. Looks like I will only be using blockbuster in furture, however maybe they too will soon jump onto the capping bandwagon.

When I was with Screenselect I was lucky if I got 3 dvRAB per fortnight despite watching the day I got them and sending back the next day. I should been receiving 6 a week.

Cancelled in the end because of slow service.

Rang ScreenSeclect this morning and the 10 movie limit appears to apply to new customers. I'm pretty much fed up with their service though. I've rented three movies within the week, returned all three, and have been 'awaiting allocation' since Friday. Their service has really gone down since I joined a few months ago. I have never received an e-mail reply even though I threatened several times to close my account, and notify others of their terrible service. :-(

see first posting in this thread. the text from their site is quoted from how it read on 20th June.

I did - I provided a link and a quote of what was written. The link now goes to a page which no longer says you are limited to 10 rentals. Perhaps they have changed their minRAB after customers complained.

ten doesn't sound much - that's only 2.3 disks per week.

365.25 days per year / 12 = 30.4375 days per month

30.4375 / 7 = 4.348 weeks per month

10 / 4.348 = 2.299 disks per week

well ive been with them for 1 year,
and have no complaints, always send them out on time and never haver to wait more than 2-3 days after sending them back

They all seem to be doing that now, some are totally honest about it and get customers as a result, other just use their system to delay the discs so that the account doesn't become unprofitable.

I sent movies back to SS two days ago and they still have not noted they received them. This makes being able to rent only (3) movies in one week, so basically you are paying

It is possible that they found such a high capping to be unfeasible to the customers so they changed their minRAB. If it is not stated in their terms and conditions surely they cannot enforce it.

Screenselect have always been pretty good in the past.

That makes sense. DVD365 suspended their affiliate system a few days ago without warning or reason. Shame, they attracted a lot of good comments, compared with the other two.

I think that sums it up for me, "at the end of the day :) " they promise decent movies but all I seem to get are the 'fillers', it does seem a little misleading.

Also, I cancelled recently and discovered SS do not offer refunRAB pro-rata   :( which Blockbuster managed to do :D

My opinions:

Amazon - If capped services are your thing, try Amazon, very quick turn around, good for new releases and an informative queuing system indicates availability.

Blockbuster - No complaints really, other than next rentals not being posted out 'til the day after current ones are received (when I post 'em back, it's because I 'm ready for the next one!)

FilmFour - Just started with FF, they give a discount to FilmFour subscribers and seem to have quick turnaround. Max 2 rentals at a time.

Screenselect - Sent wrong DVRAB, faulty DVRAB, dealt with amicably though. Slow turnaround. Intimidating small print, made me feel I was under suspicion... .

I haven't considered costs for these services because they're all similar, it's the SERVICE that varies wildly :D

- good luck, it's a jungle out there

All this capping must be giving blockbuster a lot of customers. Hope blockbusters can avoid following suit that really would be a shame if they went greedy too.
