Screen Replacement

Shattered 1/4 of my macbook pro's screen this morning. Temporarily hookin it up with my tv so I can get through finals week but I'm looking to repair/replace over christmas break.

Apple GENIUS tells me it's going to run me $400-700 to fix... I'm checking out local repair shops now

Anyone dealt with this issue and knows of a cheaper/better plan?

You could try and find the part yourself, then take it to a shop for the labor. Not sure the hassle is worth what you would save or not.

I've found some cheap screens but I spoke with a guy in shop who said the screen should be 250 and the labor usually is 250 because the screens are hot glued on to the macs, making them a bitch to take off and basically a shitfrack to do yourself.

Sucks for you. My replacement HP 17inch LCD was $89 on Ebay, did the work myself.

use that $500 dollars for the repair and get a better non mac laptop today with a cyber monday deal
