Screen Protectors - T3.

Anyone recommend a good screen protector for the Tungsten T3?

At the moment I'm using the Belchin' (aka Belkin) screen protectors and I'm not happy with them at all. Can't seem to find anything at the local Circuit City or Best Buy so I was wondering what other folks are using.
Thanks,
KimH

When I got my T3 all they had in stock at staples was the PALM brand "cut to fit," slightly thicker but very clear "models."

They scratch very easily, especially in the "write on screen mode," but with some light duty "hand glaze" car polish on the tip of a "paper towelled finger," followed by PASTE CAR WAX of all things, the shine does come back and the wax makes the stylus move very easily over the top for about a week. You can repeat the process.

Personally, a bit of "cloudiness" from scratches beats the pain of replacing the thing. I used to like the Fellowes "matte finish" protector screens on the 505, but I can't find them for the T3.

Boxwave make a "rigid" one that I'd like but they're web purchase only - I DID NOT like the Belkin ones. There is another manufacturer making the "rigid" type but I can't remember the name -

That's all I know. I've stuck with the Palm cut to fit (template on back side has all models, trim on OUTSIDE edge of the black ink frame to get maximum edge fill) - but I'd also like to know if there are any "standard" ones people like other than the rigid, which don't appear to be in stores.

I bought the Brando washable protector from Hong Kong:

Didn't think it is anything special. I got a scratch in it, and I bent a bit of it in trying to get it on right. Don't think I will buy it again, but I can't imagine what other brand would be better.

I've heard that both the Belkin and the Fellowes are pretty crappy for the price, yes?

I would have to say that from my experience the Fellowes was much better than the "Belchin". The Belkin protector looks very grainy.

I used a Fellowes protector which was made specifically for the Sony series PDA but fit perfectly on the T3.

At this point I will re-order the Sony Fellowes screen protector for my T3.

on the M505, but I can't find them for the T3. I want a CLEAR, non matte screen, and with my "buff/polish/wax" technique I can make anything last longer. Problem with the Palm ones is not so much bubbling but general cloudiness and they scratch if you BREATHE on them.

The Fellowes ones were at least tougher, and when waxed with paste wax gently, came back almots good as new. The matte finish wore flat and shiny with time and they actually got clearer!

If you are curious I'm using the Fellowes model number 98141 designed for the Sony Clie NR70, NR70V, NX60 and NX70V which fits the T3 "like a glove".

The Fellowes, the Belkins and the NuShields are the CHEVY'S. The Brando, JavaEdge, and the Boxwave are the CADILLACS, but
the Martin Fields protector is the ROLLS-ROYCE of screen
protectors...IMHO

If those pinheads would sell their stuff in STORES instead of taking a credit card over the web for $12, I'd buy one. Heck, I'd pay double. It is insane to me that between BestBuy, Staples, Office Max, and Office Depot -- not one of them will carry the Rolls Royce, Cadillac or even Lincoln Continental.

In the meantime, while looking for the luxurious but not overly ostentatious or flamboyant

"KIM H MODEL,"

I found in Best Buy a "Universal" FELLOWES protector, trim to size with hard to see yellow grid - quite good though - beats the hell out of the Palm or Belkin one.

Will Ferrell put it best on SNL:

"You can't talk to me like that! I'm the boss 'round here! I . . . I . . . . . . I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!"

PS: Who the heck is Martin Fields when he's at home?? Heres a link I found after reading about him above:

Yet another where you go to a website (overlay.com) and buy blind. You'd think one of these guys would make a sales call to an office supply retail chain! Here's another called ScreenGuardz:

The Boxwave cleartouch screen protectors arent bad. Also, they're supposed to be reuseable. I say "supposedly", because i tried taking off the first one and replacing it, which was a cast-iron bitch of a job, but managed to get it done eventually.

Clear matte finish, and they write great. Sometimes though the stylus does leave faint outlines on the protector, but these are easily wiped off.

Now I wish I'd saved the $16 on Fellowes, added $10 and got a 3 pack of these bad boys. LO AND BEHOLD, they actually have a mailing address and will accept a money order!!

WooHoo!! Thanks Karan.

The contact information page for anyone else interested in sending "real money" and not giving your credit card is:

Think I'll whiz off a M/O tomorrow - that way I'll have two spares that go to waste when Cobalt comes out . . . .

Seriously - I think these would be good; hopefully they feel "slick" and not rubbery like some of the softer vinyl ones.

......I purchased and used one of the boxwave protectors. Can't vouch for 'removable' part as Palm removed it from my PDA when they were 'fixing' it. Screen itself was, or appeared to be pretty good, although after time the areas where you write does seem to wear a little, but it does have a good 'feel' when writing. When all is said and done, I'll be gettting a replacement from boxwave in the near future......

I have used www.newtonelectonics.com protectors since 2002- are very clear, reasonably easy to lay-on the screen- and they DO protect from scratches. I think they are US$9 for 16 with a couple bucks for shipping. I use my T2 alot, and they are fine for 8-10 days, before the writing "feel" changes enough to notice.

God Bless "Mel" in Sales - wrote right back - money order ok, $27.95 plus $4.50 shipping for THREE PACK - $32.45 is on its way tomorrow morning.

I can finally see what the "non vinyl fuss" is about . . . hopefully they're washable and WAXABLE, as I like a slick writing surface rather than "felty rubbery, feels like paper."

That's why I have a solid plastic nib stylus and not that awful Cross "rubbery" one - can't stand that feel.

Know what cmuller means by "losing the feel;" after a while you'd think you're writing in mud. No good.

Thanks all for your input!!
