Scream 1 'BBC1 on now'

Forgot how scary this film is I was 7 when I first watched this scared the crap out of me lol, plus the acting isn't cheesy like the now modern horror slashers

It worked for both younger and older "teens being killed buy a madman" horror fans. The younger ones hadn't seen anything like this - the last scary horror film of this kind was A Nightmare On Elm Street in 1984 - so a true urban slasher horror movie scared them. The older generation recognised it as an affectionate tongue-in-cheek tribute to Elm Street, to Halloween, to Friday 13th etc etc etc.

I didn't find it the least bit scary, but it found it hugely entertaining and very funny. However, the two secretaries at my place of work, who were both in their late teens, thought it was the scariest movie they had ever seen, and couldn't undertstand why I found it to be a comedy. At the time I didn't understand that - but of course, I didn't realise that they'd never actually seen a horror film like that, they weren't even born - or at least weren't watching horror films - from the late seventies through to the mid-eighties.

Of course, once the tribute horror film was released (Scream) the spoofs and copies came out thick and fast - I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jeepers Creepers, Scary Movie, Urban LegenRAB, The Craft - plus all the respective sequels, but none could touch Scream. It came out at just the right time. No, it wasn't scary - at least not to anybody older than 25 - but it was a good movie.

Wes Craven's finest hour :)

Love that film so much. What I thinks great about it is you don't have to be a horror fan to love it, or even a film fan.

Can remember showing it to one of my frienRAB and got "it's alright this" out of him haha. To me that says something but i suppose you have to know the friend haha.

Yeah, it's a great film!

I had to study and watch it loaRAB of times as we were looking at horror films as part of my media studies course. Had to write an essay on it, actually! :D

The first time I saw it, the ending with the two killers had me both shocked and confused!

Classic Wes Craven.

What made it good aswell they cast Drew Barrymore but only to be the 1st victim cause usually big stars don't die. I only knew this a few years ago though

Yeah great film! The sequals weren't the best though. I did read that Scream 4 has been green-lit with some of the original cast - but they plan on bringing in a whole new younger cast. I am quite pleased though - as far as horrors go, the Scream franchise is up there.

Love the films, 2 is my favourite though.

One is great, but I just love the reveal of the killer in the theatre in Scream 2.

Gutted when I read about Scream 4, I hope someone stops it before it's too late.

Scream 3 wasn't brilliant but I think as a trilogy, Scream works, adding a new one so much later will, imo, ruin what came before it. Or at least the reputation of what came before it.

It's official, but like someone mentioned it's a whole new younger cast, and the leaRAB from the original films are making a cameo, and I hope to God they do not kill any of the original characters off in it totally ruining the whole trilogy. Kevin Williamson is writing the new script I believe.
