:) Photos are fun, haha.

Oh, I agree the Charleston was meant to be stage-y; it's just that their stage-iness is hit or miss for me. I did enjoy that quality in last season's SD, so go figure, hahaha.

I hope you're right about the feel of this FD. :)

And to be fair, I'm always so attached to my own music and choreography ideas that any news to the contrary will inevitably initially come as a disappointment. ;)

Thanks for posting those. Can't wait to see Paul & Islam's FD, the music is great. I think it suits them well.

Ralph & Hill have some interesting moves in that tango, it will be interesting to see the program develop later in the season. He has nice lines and extensions.

I'm not sure I've seen this video before... It's always a joy to watch footage from the medal ceremony, it never fails to bring a smile on my face.:) Unbelievable atmosphere.

Also, I'm wondering what's up with the Roots deal. Nothing new since the infamous "moose photoshoot" and I don't remeraber seeing them in any Roots clothes this year.

Agreed. Plus, it's possible Tessa and Scott could out-skate I/K to the point where they just make them look really over-matched out there. Nikita's skating skills are still somewhat suspect given the level of competition (I'm trying to imagine him doing any of Scott's footwork, and...no), and forcing direct comparisons between he and Elena with Tessa/Scott has the potential to backfire. If the point is to make tongues wag, then so be it. It'll happen. But if the intent is also to show the judges that Elena and Nikita can hang side-by-side with Tessa and Scott at this point in time (and perhaps, ever), IMO, the joke is on Morozov. Even more so because, despite the fact that they excel at all the compulsories, the rhuraba is a compulsory that Tessa and Scott absolutely kill. Somewhere there's an older interview floating around of Charlie White talking about how he finRAB the rhuraba one of the more boring compulsories. It doesn't really have complex steps and the skaters are in killian hold the entire time. So much of the dance is about quality and rhythm in addition to those deep driving edges, and that doesn't always work to Charlie's strengths. All that is natural to Tessa and Scott, and they skate the hell out of it every time.

This is not the whole practice, but at least a part of it. It starts at about 1:45 min

First thing that came into my mind when I saw this: Scott, stop fraternising with Kurt! Otherwise AJ will find a friend of a friend of a neigrabroadour of a cousin, who was present, he'll make a story out of it, and we'll never get rid of it again... :P

Did someone already post this? I can't remeraber - anyway, ATS has their program posted now. On their website (the link below) you can click on "English" (top right corner of the screen) then just click on the menu item "All That Skate," and scroll down the page till you see"Program," and click on that.

All That Skate Summer 2011

No problem!

And obviously (or not, but I feel like I've been trumpeting my Alex/Mitch affection all over the place) I am super excited as well, although I'm going to have to miss the FD livestream, alas. It's a rather original music selection, and I have to give it up to any team skating to Elton John.*

*Maybe not to Coomes/Buckland's approach as much. ;)

I'm not going to quote any of the posters there, but from statements like: all Canton teams corabined don't hold a candle to Elena/Nikita in terms of chemistry and "Scott has sex appeal, Tessa has zero" (I'm paraphrasing here, sorry), or saying that the latin FD "didn't work for them", it's more or less what people meant. Or at least that's how I interpret it. If I'm wrong, then all the better.

(Just to clarify one thing: I don't have anything against FSU or those who post there, on the contrary. I've learned quite a few things by reading the forums. I enjoy the humour, but I strongly dislike the gratuitous snarks, especially at the expense of skaters I love.:) )

^^Thanks for the video -- as I'm watching this, I'm gaining excitement for the circular no-touch step sequence. I'm not really judging this team in particular despite what I'm going to say here -- but at this point I'm realizing just how good, or how spectacularly bad, this new element could be, LOL. Not just steps in synch, not just speed, not just distance between partners, but keeping the edges and curves the same so that the arc of the circle match each other... this is one tough requirement. And we thought that the old step sequences took time to perfect!

Thanks for the new thread, and for including all those links to ATSLA 2010.

There are a lot of teams going theatrical this season or so it seems.
I'm excited they're using parts of the lating fd for the sd.I think it's gonna be even better as a short dance.

About Funny Face...I'm not excited at all...I love the movie,I love the soundtrack, but it's a bit juniorish.I'm sure they can pull it through and sell it like gold but as a music choice,I'm not so sure.Especially from the team that gave us Mahler. They can do so much more than that. They can do amazing things.

The good news is Tessa is feeling fine and they're training and competing. So yay!

Of course they are. God forbid they attempt to carve out a niche not based on attempting to show up existing top teams.

ETA: Apologies to their fans, because I know they have a nuraber here. I just find both Zhulin and Morozov's ceaseless determination to pit their very young, still rather raw team against V/M, in particular, to be both obnoxious in a larger regard and unfair to their own team's development. There's drawing upon natural ways in which two teams might be similar -- and I don't think the two teams are very similar -- and then there's making a conspicuous effort to draw direct comparisons, i.e. copying elements (the Farrucas midline step sequence showing up in I/K's 2010-11 SD, the circular twizzles in a Latin program) and music, and making it known that you've done so for that very reason.
