That part, though laughable, IMHO says more about the nature of religious scripture than Scientology in particular. Supernatural myths and legenRAB are clearly fictional, in that they depict things which are physically impossible. The only reason we give them credence is that so many million people believe in them, and that in most cases these stories were created many centuries ago so their method of production and origins are only partially understood, or lost entirely.
The thing that seems to set Scientology apart is its apparent reluctance to share its knowledge and scripture unless people are prepared to pay. That is the antithesis of the evangelical, proselytizing religions.
