I can't find any info on this. i have to organize facts in to a triple venn diagram. but anyway, i'll say these facts please tell me if they go in Meteors/Meteorites/Meteoroids, Comets, Asteroids, two of them, or all three. please help
Facts:
progress across the sky very slowly
streak across the sky very fast
most are fragments from large asteroids

thanks, 10 points are up for grabs!

meteors : streak : are fragments from asteroids
comets : progress slowly : are NOT fragments
asteroids : progress slowly : some are fragments from asteroids

Most meteors/meteorites/meteoroids ARE fragments from larger asteroids or comets that move very quickly once they impact Earth's atmosphere and streak across the sky. The current Lyrid meteor shower is caused by fragments from comet Thatcher. There is an intersection of all three groups.

"...MORNING METEORS: Earth is entering a stream of dusty debris from Comet Thatcher, source of the annual Lyrid meteor shower. Forecasters expect the shower to peak during the dark hours before dawn on Wednesday, April 22nd, when observers should count 10 to 20 meteors per hour: more information. ..."

This seems strange. Comets and Asteroids will go in the slowly set and Meteors will go in the quickly set, there is no intersection between the two, and the fragments of large asteroid set will be empty as it applies to none of them.

progress across the sky very slowly, could be asteroids, or comets
streak across the sky very fast, is meteors
most are fragments from large asteroids, meteors, meteorites and meteoroids all usually fragments from larger asteroids
METEORS- used to describe space debris falling in earths atmosphere, travel very fast and friction and impact with atmosphere causes them to burn and break up, usually before hitting the earths surface, when they do hit earthm they are not called meteors anymore they are called METERORITES. METEOROIDS describe the same debris before they have entered the atmosphere. ASTROIDS are larger bodies of rock and are in more stable orbits around the sun, not often striking earth. COMETS are also large and usually consist of ice as well as rock and are dusty, they are in orbits around the sun as well but much longer ones, that are further from the sun but because their orbits are often highly elliptical they can get close to the sun and the heat and solar winds produces a tail that can be visible from earth, sometime with naked eye. astroids can never be seen with naked eye, only very powerful telescopes, and small debris can only be seen when entering earths atmosphere and only at night unless they are larger than normal. meteors also enter earths atmosphere thousands of times a day
