7. On any given day, why does the photoperiod vary in the world.
 
The must be asking about the length of the day.

People would use lights less hours if the daylight hours are longer. Also, on any given day, the closer you are to the North Pole, the daylight hours get longer in the summer, and shorter in the winter. This would cause corresponding variations in lighting and heating. The same would be true for the South Pole, but fewer people live in the Southern Hemisphere.
