I've had nurabess down my legs on and off for over 8 years now and have had an xray but they found nothing wrong. My doctor said it was sciatica and basically i need to do back exercises to strengthen my lower back up. However,i'm a very active person and i have no problem with stretching my back and my back doesn't seems weak as such.
I have to hunch my legs up at night to stop the tingling and nurabness down my legs when trying to sleep while my back feels painful as hell. Sometimes my back doesn't have pain but i still always every single night cannot straighten my legs out without nurabess.
As time has gone by i've noticed that i get tingling in my arms but maybe its just in my mind.
What is the outcome of this that i have?
Have any of you people had the symptoms that i have got?
Have you ever had an MRI? You said you had an Xray and it didn't show anything. Xrays don't show herniated discs. I am having an MRI tomorrow to see if my disc is herniated again. I've had all of the symptoms you are describing with my herniated disc problem.
I had surgery to remove the portion of the disc that was pushing on the nerve 3 years ago and have been doing great until just a week ago and now today it got really bad and I have really bad pain in my back in the spine area and the pain runs down my left leg in the back.
If you haven't had an MRI I'd suggest going to a doctor who will order one and also a doctor who will listen to your pain problems.
I never got an MRI and i basically got fobbed off by the doctor. I do remeraber saying something like its my L4 S1 L5 or something like that when i went for my xray.
I thought you only get nurabness down one leg only not both of them.
If its a herniated disc like yours then what is the outcome of this?
First I'd definately say you need an MRI done for sure. There are many options if it's a herniated disc. One of the key factors is how bad it's herniated though as to what the treatment would be. In my case 3 years ago I had severe nerve compression and severe pain in my left foot and I also lost the use of my left calf muscle because the disc was pressing so hard on the nerve it wasn't able to send a signal to my calf anymore. Like I said I had surgery to correct that problem. If it hadn't been that bad I wouldn't have had the surgery.
Another option if it's a herniation is prednisone. It's a steroid anti-inflammitory that gets rid of the inflammation of the sciatic nerve and relieves pain. The kind I am taking I take for just 6 days and it should get rid of the pain for me for a while anyway. But I need to get to the cause of the pain and if that's a herniation then I can wait it out and see if the pain returns or have another surgery or do spinal injections of cortizone.
There really is a lot of options for pain. Physical therapy is another option. What I would recommend for you just from personal experience is going to see an Orthopedic Spine Specialist a surgeon. They don't just do surgeries they treat the spine in general. They specialize in the spine and any problem related to it and they should be able to help you.
As far as the nurabness and tingling I'm not sure about all of that. I've heard it's possible to have a herniation and it effects both sides but more commonly it only causes problems on one side. As far as tingling in the arms goes that can be from a herniation of the spine in the middle of the back or upper back. The thing is if you see a spine specialist they should be able to figure out what's going on whatever is wrong with the spine if it's a herniation or other problem.
