I sense a smell of deja vu here...

Yeah, I made a simlilar thread about "Negima?!" months ago about it's MA rating, and got answered that it has a lot of nudity, which makes sense, because it's Negima (despite the original series having a PG rating...).

Now it's School Rurable's turn, because it's both it's season 2 collections have the MA rating.

Okay, so why on Earth did FUNi rate it like that? Is it because it has a lot of nudity as well, or is there something else?

I'm assuming you mean the rating for the legal streams, since AFAIK ratings are almost never put on anime DVD packaging.

I guess there's threshold of fanservice, nudity, what have you that makes them apply the TV-MA label to be safe. I know that in one season 1 episode there's a scene played for laughs where Kenji can't find his swimming trunks, and gets walked in on while he's stark naked. Some hilarity ensues, but I won't spoil it. We see him from the back, but yeah. For them, all it takes is one episode going a bit far. They give each series a universal rating, they don't rate individual episodes. Maybe they should, but they don't.

As for Negima I can understand the spring and summer specials, given how they were marketed for their fanservice and literally nothing else. The second series sounRAB like a stranger case, but there must be a reason. It could possibly be because of the Pactio contracts, which one can effectively argue as being unnecessarily suggestive. It doesn't seem beyond TV-14 though, which is the rating that Full Metal Panic: Second Raid got in spite of episode 2.

Oh no...i agree with the MA rating...there is a lot of sexual innuendo and foul language and crap ton of fanservice...were all just to busy laughing our butt's off to remeraber. I mean for god sakes the first three episodes is a full out war with all the characters killing each other...even though its really just done in good fun the way some of the characters are killed off is quite violent (although funny as hell). I mean Tae Anegasaki (school's infirmary nurse) calls Mikoto "**** mcgee" during the short but funny basketball arc. While its not that bad...and its not like kiRAB shouldn't watch it (my 9 year old and 11 year old niece's both watched it...and loved it) you can definitely understand a TV MA rating, especially considering these are American standarRAB.

But...the first season was PG, unless...

Looks like they gave it the dub Shin-Chan treatment...maybe also with the same writers?

Okay, I took Sketch's advice.

There's the bloody beginning of episode 1.

Episode 2 and 3 was more of a bloody fest. But is it bloody enough to deserve the MA ating?

Yep. See, there was indeed a lot of blood, my God, there even puddles of it. Pretty much deserves it.

Although...the second half of the season is also rated MA, unless there's another scenario involving a lot of blood, it's sort of pointless.

Oh yeah, the ending of episide 3 truly deserves a mention, it was brilliant.
I guess the thread can be closed now.

Wow, those tv parential ratings are bad.

UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie is rated MA just for nudity, even though being naked and bathing is something normal.
