why is this? I mean in REAL News papers, criticizing articles are written, and in return can receive criticism.

I mean it's not about making people happy, it's about GIVING THE NEWS! isnt it?

The only negative article I've seen is about how no one likes the flavored water, probably written because the feelings of everyone are synonymous.

The ideas of positive and negative are what need to be examined here.

Is a positive story one that informs and empowers people to take cogent and substantive action. Isn't it possible that a reporter may need to point out a problem that needs solving? Is negative news then defined as pointing out problems? isn't noticing and fixing problems the definition of progress and cognitive growth?

And doesn't it then follow that a story or report that tries to tell people there is no problem when one exists is by definition a negative story?

Translation into everyday reasoning:

It isn't always rosy in Sunnydale.

Sometimes pointing out that the mail truck is about to run over nice Mrs. Staples the crossing guard is a good idea. Even if it reflects badly on the driver of the truck.

Really.

What do we mean by positive or negative news?

You should write a negative article, and take it to your newspaper. If they see that it is constructive criticism, not deconstructive criticism, then they should become more open to the idea.
