I don't think so, but my son is doing yr 11 next year and had a selection of electives he could pick to do. He elected to do certain subjects but there was a few he missed out on. He tried to change them today but they either clashed with other subjects or the elective was full.
It doesn't have anything to do with 'first in best dressed' it seems to be based on the teachers putting students where ever they fit.
He was more than willing to swap other subjects so they wouldn't clash and it would give him the opportunity to do the subjects he wanted or needed to for his future career but he was told if a subject is full then there is nothing they can do about it so basically he was either stuck with what he was given or given a choice of 1 other elective which he was 'TOTALLY' not interested in.
Now he's wanting to leave school, I thought I would leave him until he calmed down and thought more about it but he's still really, really p***ed off! He's gone out job hunting. I know he really wants to stay at school but he's trying to make a point that if he's going to hate the electives (that we pay for) or fails them because he knows he wont do much good at them especially if he's really not interested then why drag it out for a year.
Do you think he or I should kick up about not getting the electives he wants or just accept second best?
