scary symptoms, please help...

i would say check your thyroid. they will only test your tsh but you need to ask for t4, t3, vit d levels, ferrotin, vitamin b...hormones..my opinion is low thyroid and then the bc perhaps it has gone untreated you most likely have adrenal fatigue. youcan take a 24 hour saliva test and have your cortisol checked during different times of the day. if you are new on here i can't private message you yet. but there is a GREAT book that after you read it will say... o MY! it is on adrenal fatigue. i have thyroid and adrenal issues and i hate to tell you this but knowledge on this disorder is limited and you will learn so much by getting on the sites online and you will find so many people just like you. hang in there and don't give up..you just need to find out where you are and you will feel better. it is not an easy road for some..but some find easy relief right away. unfortunatly i was not one of those people who could take synthetic and doctors turn their nose up to the natural stuff which is what i should have bbeen on all along. the shocks you feel that is your adrenals...adrenaline..i used to have that all the time...and normal doctors had no clue. it is your adrenals..

ok im starting to get fed up. i got bloodwork done, and my doctor has yet to call me back. im getting sick of this. he claimed to not even know what chronic fatigue syndrome even was, and now im getting in trouble at work for not being able to perform the required functions. how am i supposed to get a doctors documentation for my illness if he doesnt know what it is, or dismisses it as a psychological problem? im getting sooooo frustrated, i have no clue what to do. the frustration is getting to be just as bad as the symptoms i suffer from. anyone?

I have a list of symptoms that I've been experiencing for a few months now. I am scared of the unknown. I haven't seen a doctor yet.. but I am making an appointment with my physician for this week hopefully. Here is what I experience on a daily basis.

-Constant headache, my head throbs when it is the worst. It always worse in the morning. My head rarely is free of pain. The headaches often cause nausea.

-When my headaches are the worst, I feel alot of pressure in my eyeballs.

-feeling of electricity or shocks in my head, at least over 5 times a day.

-trouble sleeping despite being prescribed clonazepam for my anxiety. I can take several and still have trouble falling asleep.

-I wake up in the morning sweating even though it is cold outside.

-I get cold ALL the time, when watching tv, i have to have a space heater a few feet away from me.

-Short term memory problems. I forget what the last commercial i saw was. I'll forget the last thought in my head, and am baffled when trying to think about what I was just thinking about.

-Sometimes when I'm sitting down, i will feel a twitch that feels like its coming from my lower back that makes my whole torso twitch. My biceps, and quadricep muscles often twitch.

-When laying down, or sitting, sometimes when standing I'll get very light headed and dizzy, to the point where it makes me very nauseas.

-I urinate more than normal. Sometimes I will go several times in a period of an hour.

-Fatigue, I remember a time when I had lots of energy, I was a very energetic person, but that is not the case anymore. I am always tired, but still have trouble sleeping.

-I've been diagnosed with depression and take lexapro for it. I still feel depressed frequently, sometimes to the point where I experience complete and utter sadness out of nowhere.

-Lack of pleasure, I used to be very active, have lots of friends, but i've withdrawn myself completely. Nothing really excites me anymore.

-Anxiety, my medication helps some, but I am on 1mg of clonazepam four times a day and still experience anxiety frequently.

-I get nauseas, and really hot for short periods of time, several times a day.

-I notice that I clench my jaw on occasion.

-I have no motivation. I'll be sitting in my computer chair watching television, and I have the desire to play a game on the computer, but for some reason, sometimes I can't get myself to even do that. It baffles me.

If anyone reads this and can give me some advice, or might know what is going on with me, please repost.

Thank you,
Drew

for any doctor to be ignorant of Chronic Fatigue at this point is in-excusable. Its really called Epstein-Barr and they do know of it because its within the same family as Mono-neuclearosis(sp?)

So go out to the internet, search out the pages out there on it, print them and shove them under his nose!

if your doctor won't recognize it, then find another doctor. Oh and by the way, there's no test for it other than the standard T-cell blood test used for Mono. So its a matter of eliminating all other things that could give rise to the same symptoms.

I'm very lucky, I had a great doctor who knew that my forcing a return to work earlier than I should was going to seg-way into it. I thought it was nothing but it turns out to be something very much an impact to my life.

dear confusa,
thank you for reading and taking time to reply. i looked up adrenal fatigue, and the symptoms, and it really seems to explain what is wrong with me. the only thing that still baffles me, is why i ALWAYS have a headache. i didn't find any connections between my constand and sometimes debiliating headaches and adrenal fatigue. I am going to take a copy of my post when i see my physician. my question is, what kind of doctor or specialist should i see? I also read about addison's disease, and the symptoms are almost the same as adrenal fatigue, how likely do you think it is that i could have addison's disease? or is that just me thinking the worst like i normally do? anyways thank you everyone so far who has posted, i didn't expect to get the kind of replies that i got, it feels good to know that people i don't even know are willing to take the time to give me advice. for that i am very thankful.

You don't say your age but I would get checked out by a neurologist and have an MRI done to see if there's anything going on in your head that could be causing pressure on your eyes. They can do an EEG to see how your brain is functioning and find out if you're epileptic. Problems in the head could be causing the dizziness and forgetfulness, too.

The urination and nausea problems sound like it might be diabetes related. Get a blood sugar test done to see what your levels are at. The dizziness could also be related to diabetes.

You could have vitamin deficiencies as well. B vitamins help with neurological problems. Magnesium can help with the twitching you've got. Do you drink caffeine? That could cause twitching and lower your magnesium levels, too.

You should also have your thyroid checked to make sure that's not causing problems.

It sounds like you need an overall work-up done by your doctors to see if they can detect what is going on. Make sure you're not sensitive to these meds you're on. Sometimes the side effects of the meds make you feel worse. Maybe they need to adjust your dosage as well. Good luck. I feel bad for you. Be careful if you're driving.

again thanks for everyone's advice. i went to my physician today, and took my list of symptoms with me. i also took a list of symptoms of adrenal fatigue. my doctor had NO idea what adrenal fatigue was. no clue what so ever. he ordered bloodwork done, an array of test. i cant remember exactly what different tests were ordered but i remember t3 and t4 and ep bar, and glucose and there were a few others that i forget. he said the tests were supposed to check the functioning of my thyroid and kidneys. i havent heard back from him yet, but because he has been a family friend ever since i was a little kid, i assume i will be treated as somewhat of a priority. i will get back on here and post what he says about the tests, and the results. thanks again.

Drew, any possibility that you could have an Environmental Illness/Allergy-related problem. There are plastics (Phthalates), petroleum products and many other recognized health hazards that might be, at least, partially responsible for your misery.

Let me just add something that could be important.

There are a few medications that create pressure within the eyes. And when that happens it is easy to detect. It feels like nothing else. And it certainly lends itself to headache as well. Topomax (topiramate) comes to mind as the one I had direct experience with. There are others that can do it too though. The mounting internal pressure was unreal after taking Topomax for a while. But unfortunately that's pretty hard to sell to your doc sometimes, if they can't actually determine anything obvious.

Drew, I don't know what meds you may be taking now, if any, but when that does happen it can be quite dangerous. And highly recommended to find out and get off that particular med, if that is the case.

Many meds can also produce CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). In my case it later brought about mysterious retinal complications, internal bleeding, and required several laser eye-surgeries in both eyes. At least I suspect that to be the culprit. There is no other apparent reason. Searching this out on the internet is critical, and taking charge of our own medical destiny is also. Please stay involved and informed in the process yourself too.

As previously recommended here, ultimately a neurologist is who really should be analyzing your case. Hopefully you'll know more about all this very soon.

hey , i forgot to tell u what t3 & t4 is. it is a hormones levels, like to check your thyrond glands, that whats that test will be checking you for over activite thyrond.

just spoke with my doctor, and my bloodwork came back 100% normal he said, im as healthy as i should be, but i obviously do not feel that way. he knows i see a psychiatrist, and suggested i get an appointment with him as soon as possible. so obviously he is dismissing my symptoms as being psychological, which is what i was afraid of. i am sooo frustrated, i don't know whats worse, my frustration, or the way i feel because of all my symptoms. im thinking about trying to get in to see a neurologist? is that a good idea?

i just wanted to add something here that just could possibly be something to really check into? the neurologist is really a good place to start, but before you get referred there, your doc should send you for an MRI on the brain AND your c spine too using a contrasting agent(this shows things that can be somewhat hidden at times on MRI, espescially the vascular structures within the brain?). there can be many different things you can just have form within the brain at the vascular levels or things you were just born with that also can impact the blood flow or other little odd things. brain tumors are just truely much more rare to really have as opposed to the other things i mentioned. the c spine is just another place to look for potential issues that depending upon the level and just where the issues actually are(the spinal cord alone can create some really big symptoms if something is wrong or just impacting it too or absolutely none), could be causeing at least some of your ongoing symptoms.

the thing here is, since you really do not know yet just what is actually behind any of the symptoms, its always possible that you could have more than one type of condition or reasons for the symptoms to just exist but not all being totally related to only one thing being wrong, ya know what i mean? its just covering the most common or likely bases. but looking into that brain just considering the head pain really needs to be done with that contrasted MRI. they can just do that brain and the c spine at the very same visit. any Dx is a matter of tracking back symptoms to possible sources then testing those places and ruling things in or out as a possible. hopefully you can get the MRIs done by just your primarys referral. it would just give you some good solid info to bring to the first appt(there just is in most cases, a pretty long wait with most speacialists to get into that very first appt?). hopefully there is a reasonable explanation for all this that isn't a major issue. just get that brain and c spine cleared. good luck to you and please do keep us posted, FB

why yes it is. please go back to the previous page and read my response to you as to why a neuro and some MRIs are just really truely needed. great bloodwork has nothing at all really to do with certain findings that could be giving you symptoms like you are having. thats why god invented the plain old MRI(but you really NEED it done WITH a contrasting agent for your situation). getting a much deeper look into the possible areas that could just actually create your symptoms is pretty common sense that your doc should just have referred you for, ya know what i mean? seek out another primary if this one seems to think that this is 'merely' some stupid phsyc isse, geez. you just deserve to have your ongoing symptoms and real pain taken much more seriously. this doc has closed off his mind already about you sooo, you move onto another much more hands on and caring doc who is motivated to find answers for you. having a really great primary doc is like gold to any patient and you deserve much better care and treatment than you are getting right now. it took me years to actually find the current primary i have had now for almost fifteen years, and it has been a godsend considering all my major medical nightmares i have had to deal with in just a short ten years. you just NEED someone to take you and your symptoms seriously so you can obtain all the proper testing. just do whatever you feel you need to right now to just get the best possible doc and testing and the care you soooo deserve from any primary doc. whenever a primary does not understand something or things are just wayy over their freaking heads, they owe it to the patient to just refer them out to someone who DOES possibly know or at least will work with you to find out, period. honestly? this is just what their actual job IS. i do hope you decide to move onto another primary. it could be the best possible thing you could ever have done for yourself consdering your situation here. i do wish you alot of luck in just getting a much better doc here. please keep us posted. FB

hey thanks for the replies. i really appreciate it. it made me think that there is something wrong that isnt as serious as what i thought it could be... a brain tumor. by the way im only 23 years old. if my age changes any of your opinions please let me know. but thanks for taking time to read my post and reply. i am making an appointment for my pyhsician so he can refer me to a neurologist. im just really scared i have a brain tumor. my head ALWAYS hurts, im in constant pain, sometimes debilitating pain. im just really scared.

i thought i had addisons disease too..but i did not...and most likely you do not, i have been sick for 4 years with thyroid and this and i have recovered once..i know following the protocol to healing adrenals works.... i wish i could suggest a book to you, but can't private message you yet. i get headaches...if i go to long between meals...i have to eat every 2-3 hours...do not go past that...or the excessive hunger turns into nasusea...and then it get bad...dizziness, anxiety...the key is destress your life where you can. stay away form stressful people...if they drain you stay away. find a way to deep breathe morning and night...do yoga or tai chi, or just excercise but do something you enjoy. excercise is key to recovering. i believe you can do everything else but you leave this out then it won't work..i think it is the hardest thing to do for the first 2 weeks..but give try it...and don't push your body past it's ability or you will end doing more harm...just do a bit every day...by week 2 it won't be so hard and your metabolism will pick up...vit c helps the adrenals..i take enough buffered c to flush every 2 weeks then i stay on 75 % of that in btweeen. i also take lots of supplements...but blood work showed ii was low in certain things. vit b is key for your nervous system...stay away form caffeine adn fried foods. eat healthy ..protein , lots of veggies, some fruits..your sugar intake needs ot be minimal..go to bed by 10 no later...if you hve problems sleeping you should take that adrenal stress test. mine was only 100 bucks and then you can know if you have high cortisol or low cortisol...and what to do..you can heal your adrenals. oh, one more thing and i slpeak to myself..try not to be a pessimist...think happy thoughts...tell yourself , you are going to get beter..and this is for a season.

one more thing TOXINS..any chemicals, preservatives(food)...this may have been what took mine down...and it is frustreatining bc i had no idea at the time..the damage that was being done. hang in there. these are a few things off the top of my head. hope it is encouraging to you.oh, one more thing..when you eat...chew your food like 20-30 before you swallow, it is important to helping adrenals...

i read that reducing different stresses in my life would help if i have adrenal fatigue. my biggest stresser is my job, i work at UPS, it is a very physically demanding job, with managers always yelling at people. the place is just full of stress. I walk in the place and get stressed, and when my supervisors constintly yell at me because i can't keep up with my work because of my physical exhaustion and headaches, i want to flip out, and sometimes i do. my job consists of handling boxes and lifting them (up to 70lbs) from one belt to another belt, it is very physically demanding. i feel like i wont be able to get better if i continue to work there. would a doctor suggest that i go on disability so i can relax and allow myself to work on the things i need to do to get better?
