Scary phone call...

I remember they did that at Jr.High last year. They did that with tons of people for Ipods and other crap like that. What pissed a lot of people off, was the principals were seen looking through the phone, such as adress books, texts, all that good stuff.

Now in highschool, I am pretty sure that you can just pick it up at the end of the day. Although, the only person I have seen enforce this law is our assistant principal. Other teachers, everyone has their phones out looking at them, texting.

Me too, Mentor lol.

My daughter's school will pick them up if they are seen as well as giving you detention. You can get it back at the end of the week. My daughter's was acting up and kept turning itself on. She would check at lunch outside in the courtyard to make sure it was off. One day, she happened to be doing that when some bitchy teacher just walked by and snatched it. She put it in some cabinet that only she had the key for. We tried to appeal to the vice-principal because we were planning on taking it to get it fixed that weekend but being that it happened on a Friday he was determined we would need to wait until Monday.

It pissed me off and I had choice words with him as I count on her phone for her safety... it's a mom thing, I know there was life before cell phones, but let's face it they make things MUCH safer now. Anyway, my hubby diplomatically talked to the man and convinced him to meet him that Saturday to pick it up. I couldn't talk to him, I think, "I want to smack you bastard" kept becoming evident in my voice. Maybe it was those few "choice" words I had for him.

(I understand why these rules are in place, but it doesn't make any less annoying when some fuckface takes up something I am paying for - I told him as long as he had the phone in his possession I would send him a bill for those days).

We can't bring ours to school. If they even see it...they will keep it for the rest of the year and if they hear one, they'll search an entire classroom for it. Our parents supposedly can't get it back but if my mom went up there and bitched enough, I bet she could get it back.

If they see or hear our Ipod or something...they just keep it until the end of the day and you can go get it back.

Well, I see one day that they'll ease up on the cell phones. I really think they should be more strict about Ipod's/MP3 players than cell phones. I mean if a kid's standing there having a conversation, that's one thing but being seen isn't that big of a deal. They're trying to deter all use to make things "easier" on themselves.

Cell phones are a safety device nowadays for kids. They also make things much easier for schools. When a kid forgets that they have something after school or they need their parents to pick them up they don't have to stand in a line in the office waiting to use the phones, which the school also has rules against.

My school's not that strict about cell phones. Granted, if a cell phone rings during class it will be taken, and so you have to get it back at the end of the day. But I've seen some of the girls text in class, under the cover of the desk or their bags.

Then they should lose their phones for the day. I think people who break rules should be punished but I hate blanket laws/rules for stupid things.

I would also like to add to that. I believe that also it is safe to have one these days because of all the threats that are being made in schools. Say what if one day some one comes in with a gun and there is a lock down or something, wouldn't you like you child to have the phone and be able to make a call to you or the police, better yet 911?
