Scariest Kids Cartoon Ever

What was the scariest, or most violent kids show ever. My vote is with Skeleton Warriors. I don't how that show got by the censors. What do you think?

^I'm going to have to agree with you on Gargoyles even though I remember watching that show when I was four with no problems. I do remember a few episodes of Mighty Max that kind of gave me the creeps.

I always thought Invader ZIM had a chilling sense to it.

I mean, in Bestest Friend, ZIM rips Keef's eyeballs out. Sure, you don't fully see it but. Damn.

My vote goes to the 1986 series Inhumanoids. Though only 13 episodes, it regularly featured humans being turned into hideous creatures and a few of the villians had crawling flesh and exposed bones. I wondered how this one got past the censors even back then. Guess the toys sold well enough to overlook the gore...

Oh yeah, I'm surprised no one said this, but Courage the Cowardly Dog is extremely scary and freaky. Some of the music they play for the villians is just so... mood-fitting. It like, increases the freakiness of whatever is going on.

I have to go with Mighty Max on this one. The villains on the show were just beyond creepy, plus they made no effort to tap dance around violence/death, even if it all happened offscreen.

I recall one episode where they happen upon a cabin, where villain of the episode had slaughtered a park ranger. It was enough to freak out Norman and Virgil, then Max says he can handle it as he's seen stuff like that in the movies before. I forget Norman's reply, but it was a pretty realistic response to a real world murder and why someone as young as Max shouldn't be exposed to it. Then there's the episode with the vampire maggots.

Invader Zim would also count for me. Ripping out Keef's eyeballs, the entirety of 'Dark Harvest', and various other darkly comedic moment made it all the more creepy to watch as a first time viewer.

Courage the Cowardly Dog.

They had some pretty freaky stuff in that show! I'll admit to being too afraid of watching it when it first premiered  I soon grew to lvoe it though when I gave it a chance and realized it wasn't so bad.

I'll have to go with Invader Zim and possibly Gargoyles for this one. Invader Zim had creepy moments, like ripping out Keef's eyeballs and I still remember how creepy it was to watch Zim being turned into meat in one episode. Even though I watched this a few years ago when it was on Jetix on ABC Family, Gargoyles still was scary with its dark tone in the storyline and a villain like Xanatos. It was good and intense, which sometime lead to scary/creepy moments.

I think the live-action shows were scarier than anything animation had to offer. Eerie, Indiana could be weird and creepy at times. And, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was infamous for scaring the crap out of kids.

The episode with the...thing in the pool comes to mind. I loved that show but would turn it off if that episode was on.

As for cartoons, I used to think Courage was creepy, especially the first few episodes.

I can't think of any scary or creepy kids cartoons. The closest I can think of is Courage and only one episode had a creepy scene. In the episode 'Perfect' Courage has a dream that a vase drops and Muriel picks it up and then she breaks into pieces. It's just the way it was drawn and the music that's creepy.

You forgot about another dream he had in that episode. There was a strange blue plant headed tentacle thing with huge yellow eyes that said 'You're not perfect"
