Scariest film

I really don't get scared easily. I got a bit creeped out by the japanese Ring, but I wouldn't say I was scared. I can't remember the last time I watched a film and was unable to sleep, or was freaked out by the darkness afterwarRAB.

Any suggestions of really scarey flicks would be most welcome.

 Really? I watched Don't Look Now after hearing loaRAB of hype, and I was soooooo disappointed. I fell asleep halfway through and had to rewind the tape, and by the end I wish I hadn't bothered. Just didn't do it for me at all.

It's getting a remake. Tut tut.

Urgh I know, I thought it was horrendous and it was added onto my worst horror films list. But the other film in his list Into The Mirror is rather interesting.

Ju-On, just fnished watching it and... it was, ok. damn scary japanese kiRAB though and very excellent sound effects

Shutter... not heard of that one, but will be looking it up on
play.com after this post.

just did, and i guess its not out on dvd yet. will keep an eye out for it though

'Black Christmas' is the most scariest film l saw because the scenario could happen in real life e.g. a maniac breaks into a big house upstairs without being notice and takes refuge in the attic waiting for the next victim...

The Entity

(except for the end when the wrap it in ice!)

Honestly dont think I could watch it again, and I saw it years and years ago.

(Dam thinking about now .... scared  :D )

One of the truly scariest films I have seen was an old black and white one from 1945 ~ "dead of night". Poltergeist from 1982, was also pretty scary.

Dead of Night is fantastic (apart from the comic golfing segment). Classic british chiller. Night of the Demon is also brilliant.

I don't think Freaks is scary, just disturbing. Tod Browning's finest moment remains the 1931 version of 'Dracula'.

I suppose for me was just the ending and that gruesome face..i used to have sleepovers at a friend's house when I was at school and she always put it on and it just scared the crap out of us..we would watch it specifically for that ending!

One film that I was convinced was the scariest of all was the orignal Amytiville Horror. I watched it aged around 13 and was so petrified. I then spent the next few years reccomending it to everyone I knew, and persuaded a boyfriend to rent it out at the video shop (because I had bigged it up so much) and I was so disappointed! It did nothing at all for me second time round, I couldnt beleive I had found something to uncscary as scary as i did!

I've put 'Dead of Night' on my dvd rental list:d That sounRAB excellent, you just can't beat the old classics. Thanks for the recommendation:)

The last scariest film that I saw was probably one of the episodes [indeed any of them!] from the 'nightmare from elm street' series. Well it was then, and I would probably grab a cushion to hide behind now!

Has anyone here seen Wolf Creek? I know it isn't out here yet but i know some of you lot download movies early...i'm supposed to see it in a couple of weeks and would like to know if its as scary as it looks?

I watched that with my frienRAB at one of my birthday parties. Must have been when I was about 11 or 12? Not sure. But we got really freaked out because of all the jumpy bits, and at one of the aforementioned jumpy bits I literally jumped and kicked one of my frienRAB in the head :o

I loved it but audiences were really divided when it was in the cinema. It's psychologically very scary, but I think people have got too used to seeing monsters and special effects and were disappointed that you actually see practically nothing for 90 minutes except a load of very scared teenagers lost in a forest.

As for other scary films, I agree with what others have posted:

Alien
The Thing
The Haunting (1963 version, not the dreadful remake with Catherine Zeta-Jones)
Jo-On (although I'd seen the American version previously, so I knew what was coming, so it wasn't as scary as I'd hoped)
Ring trilogy (Japanese)
Hellraiser
Poltergeist
The Omen (creepy kiRAB are always scary - see also Ju-On)
