I just wanted to pop in and say hi-I don't think anyone "knows" me, but I just wanted to say I am happy to report I am still a success after four years this winter post-op from my 360 lurabar fusion. I have other issues, but feel pretty darn good. I would like to come back here and try to help others, but everyone is so different, and what I went through cannot be duplicated, ever. All I can do is offer my support, if anyone neeRAB it. I was 26 when I had my surgery, it was my second. My initial injury was related to lifting. I am now 30. I have my concerns and worries about the future and if kiRAB will be in it, and how my career might be affected, but I try to stay positive and live each day to it's fullest. I do know, had I not had my surgery, I would be in a really bad state right now. CUrrently, I work full time, 12 hours, on my feet and can stay awake after.-I only take Ultram for pain. I do sleep long hours, but I always did :)
Anyway, I will stop my rarable now. Best advice-listen to your doc. Lose weight, stop smoking, watch your restrictions.
I wish you the best and will pop in to see if anyone wants to "chit chat".

Hi Mel

Glad you are feeling so well after all this time after your fusion.

It is always good to hear of success stories.
An yes you are quite right when you say that everyone is different and no ones pain is the same.

Its good to know you are out there for people to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Myself i have refused a 3 level fusion in my lower spine and am living with the pain but thats because i think its whats best for me right now.

It may well change in the future.

Best wishes

Hi, I also am glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am 8 weeks post-op from L5/S1 fusion and it is a little depresing right now. I won't go into all of that, I just wanted to say I'm happy for you and thanks for the post............................Debbie

Hey there Mel, great to hear from you! I have often wondered about you and many of the other people who were on the boarRAB back in the day:). Ok, it wasn't that long ago, and it is wonderful to hear that you are doing well. It is very hopeful, for others who hear all the bad results re. surgeries, to hear from those who are sucess stories.

I am very happy for you and your hubby. I wish you all the best with your situation about kiRAB in your future and I hope all your dreams come true for you.

Hi Mel,
I do remeraber you from when my daughter was getting ready to have her fusion. It's great to hear that you are doing well at four years post op. How great to hear a success story from a young person. My daughter is just about 19 now and is 2 1/2 years post op. Her back is doing fabulous while she's away at college.

I hope you continue feeling well!!! cas

Hi Mel, yes, it's definitely great when someone with a success story posts about it on here. Some of the new people get scared of surgery when they see mostly negative posts, but of course most with success aren't on here seeking advice all the time. So it may put others to ease a bit to hear of anyone with success. I had multi-level laminectomies (no fusion) and I thought my surgery was successful. It got rid of the "vice" in my spine and some associated pains. HOwever, I still have spinal arthritis & DDD so my problems continue. But I did have 6 pretty good months after surgery. And the people on this board are so understaning and helpful, how could one not want to come back or still visit? I wish you continuing success and pain relief from your procedure. And if you do have any problems, no matter how minor, please feel free to post.
