SAW V - Official Spoilers Discussion (UK)

Seems a little weak 'your investigating me, so i put you through a bunch of redemption/rebirth tests/traps'.

friend of mine rekoned kerry/straum/peres/rigg's tests were all set up by amanda/hoffman and were unbeatable and jigsaw was out of the loop. Thats bull cause it was jigsaw who done all the tapes.

'Kerry, you work to hard'
'Rigg, you want to save everyone'
'peres, your straums sidekick, p.s. open the door' BANG
'Straum, you want to know the truth'

he has deviated from his core purpose slightly dont you think!

And if that druggy from V is Ericsson's son he did'nt seem to bothered when he SAW his photo at the end!

P.S. anyone know what that thing on Art's back was in Saw IV.

Completely agree....

and i'm trying to get over the disappointment that is Saw V! Don't get me wrong, i loved the first film, the second was the worst of the series until now and the third and fourth movies were clever and a good set up for a big ending. Maybe they using 5 as a filler movie.

anyway they were right.....I didn't belive how it enRAB (poor)

I didn't believe how it ended.
All four ended with a twist and I was expecting this one to... it didn't. It was how I was expecting it to end throughout the film. It wasn't a disappointment. It was more of a "oh... no twist". Maybe that was the idea. If there was another twist to the end, it would be just like the other films.

My theory on Jigsaw's targetting of the cops investigating is that he views their action of trying to find justice for those who do not deserve it wasteful. I formed this opinion from the flashback sequence with Hoffman.

I agree it getting increasingly hard to suspend one's disbelief about this.

That said, Jigsaw himself has always been a manipulator of others and has often had help. We now know Hoffman was recruited early and that Amanda was helping even in Saw I. We know in Saw I that Zep was involved at least in the abduction of Dr Gordon's wife. The final trap of IV was being run by the lawyer, Art, at least in part. In Saw II, some of the kidnappings were performed by Obi, who ended up in the nerve-gas house anyway. Obi also appears in a flashback in Saw III. He may actually be more like Amanda than like Zep; a failed apprentice rather than purely a dupe. There may be other apprentices we don't know about, even people who survived being tested and didn't publicise it.

I think events have always involved a lot of chance. For example, in Saw I I am sure Jigsaw did not expect the detective Tapp to break in on Zep at the Doctor's house, then chase him to Jigsaw's lair only to be killed at the last moment.

I am coming to believe he was being pragmatic, and taking out people who were liable to stop him. Jigsaw would not allow himself to be taken. (Notice when he tells Hoffman he can turn him in, he has the double-barrelled shotgun with one barrel loaded. If Hoffman had decided differently, Jigsaw would have killed him.)

I thought it was absolutely brilliant, as a fan of the series. I liked the fact it wasn't as trap based, and I liked the development of the story RE:Hoiffman and Strahm. Being less gore-based, they had to work a lot more on the main story arc of the series, which they did, and di it well, it tied an awful lot of things together, we can see how everything thus far was achieved. I can easily see Saw VI being as good, but I am not entirely sure if it could be pushed beyond that.

The limited appearance of Tobin Bell was the only disappointing part. Actually it was the main disappointing part. The other was the STUPID voice that Strahm had as a result of avoiding the trap at the beginning.

Roll on VI !

I Liked it.

I think the box contained the pig mask and perhaps instructions for Jill, I think she set up the tomb trap, Hoffman was clearly surprised, just as he was when Strahm survived.

I actually get the impression Jill had a lot more to do with the whole thing from the start than we've ever been lead to believe. Perhaps even causing the initial task/trap.

I know its not real, but I really hope Saw 6 allows Strahms name to be cleared, I hate to think of him(although fictional) having died as a bad guy when he wasn't.

I sort-of agree, but in Saw IV Jigsaw seems to be keeping his work secret from Jill. At the moment it's not making much sense to me.

Another point I've remembered is Rigg's wife, Tracy. I've always suspected she was complicit in his testing, because she very conveniently absented herself at the time, and because she seemed to be giving him some of the rules in the conversation just before she left. Her dialogue was even used in Rigg's flashbacks at the end.

was jill involve though and wot is in the box are we just speculating or was it meant to be clear

overall i liked the film athough i still felt siick when the blokes hand fell apart
