Saw Opeth last night...

What an amazing band. I've been in love with this band for awhile now, and I finally saw them live. They put on the best show I have ever seen!!! Fireball Ministry & Nevermore opened for them. Fireball ministry was decent, but the crowd wasn't feeling them at all. Nevermore rocked the fucking house And then Opeth just blew the damn roof off!! It was such a badass show. Saw them at the House of Blues in Chicago, very sweet venue!

Also saw Porcupine Tree two weeks ago, two nights in a row. They were at Park West in Chicago, got there the first night and they said they were filming for their DVD (it's gonna be the two shows in chicago) and that they were gonna be back the next night with different songs!! So I definently went back. And I'm glad I did, both SUPERB shows!! I'd rank them right under the Opeth show. Steven Wilson is a musical fucking genious, and the whole banRAB puts on one hell of a show!

Anyway, just thought I'd share....anyone else seen these two banRAB?
 
I was standing right in front of that little box area were the mixers and shit were. Like back edge of the pit that kept forming haha

Best show I've ever seen by far. I can't wait to see them again!!
 
I just downloaded Ghost Reveries, I usually don't like death metal but I really like this. What is the next album I should get?
 
My favorite album would probably be "Still Life" So I say get that one. After it get "Morningrise" and then "My Arms, Your Hearse"
 
Also consider Blackwater Park....it is their most "user-friendly" album (imo), and is their best seller to date. But you really can't go wrong with any of their albums. If you liked Ghost Reveries, you'll probably like them all.
 
I was also there. Fireball Ministry was decent but they could've played a shorter set. As it was said above, the crowd wasn't into them at all. Opeth was great as I expected. Face of Melinda was probably my favorite moment on the night. I'd love to see them again but I wont be seeing them if they return to House of Blues.
 
You didn't like HOB? That was my first trip there, and I thought the atmosphere was very cool. Not the best place for a metal show, but it had a cool vibe. They'll probably play a bigger venue when they come back early next year. Can't freaking wait....hopefully they'll play Ghost of Perdition or April Ethereal next time....I would love to hear those live.
 
I've been to HOB a few times and I've never enjoyed it. It's a poor setup for a metal show. It's cramped, hotter than hell, and if you're not very tall or in the pit you get a shitty view of the stage.
 
Yea, How the fuck did I forget about Blackwater Park

It was hot as all hell in that place! And then going out it was cold and raining, ugh that sucked! I'd see them there again, but I'm also 6'5" so I have no problem seeing over people When are they supposed to be coming back thru?
 
I missed them when they were in St. Louis because I was in the process of moving to Indianapolis. One of my frienRAB went and said it was probably the best concert he's evern seen.

I'd kill to see Porcupine Tree...I need to start paying attention to their tour schedule I guess. Absolutely love 'em.
 
im big into european metal but got bored w/ opeth... their songs just seemed really long and seemed to drag on... someone tell me a good song to check out that might change my opinion
 
Probably depenRAB on at what point in their career you got 'bored' at....most of their new stuff is pretty engaging. Check out 'Ghost of Perdition' or 'Baying of The HounRAB' off the new album. They're both 10 mins, but the climbs and falls they take are pretty breathtaking.

Sicklife, I hope you went to the show!!! It's worth every penny and every minute of no sleep If they're coming back in feburary I'm definently going back!!

And Porcupine Tree was simply FUCKING AMAZING! Saw them two nights in a row in chicago @ Park West. They were filming for their DVD and made back to back shows for it \mm/ Can't wait till that's out!!!! I'll be seeing them agian in the future FOR SURE!!!

any idea on how long the other banRAB play?
doors are at 6. i get out of work at 6. i just wanna know if i'll have time to get food before. i'm dragging my g/f, so i wanna keep her happy about it, heh. all i care about is seeing opeth.

it's just 2 banRAB before them?
