Mann is good at filming on locations, not in studios, he is an anti hitchock where he needs the enviroment aorund him to inspire and create. That is how i am too and his execution on that level was very well done.

This was all it had going for it. The camera work and locations. The story was just ordinary, typical shit that you'll see in every half-assed action/drama flick. He used every silly trick possible. Was there any element of surprise at any point? It was an action movie that had about 15 minutes of action. There was no drama.. it was all camera work.

There were some interesting plot points and some ideas that i hadnt seen before with the drug smuggling. There was definitily some clever shit, but its hidden among all the bullshit that he threw in there to make the movie too long.

Also, how the FUCK do these guys have a ferrari? There was no emotional investment for them. They were just doing the shit. There was nothing on the line until pretty much the very END. We need that at the begining. They were just puppets on a mission otherwise.

I know, which is fucking SHOCKING. Seriously. It just continued to get worse and worse as time went on. Probably 20-30 people walked out. They went off on ridiculous tangents which made no fucking sense whatsoever. Colin Farrell was HORRIBLE. There was too much hype, probably half of the movie they spent playing with camera angles and showing the dumbfounded looks on everyones faces.. no dialogue, no fucking point.. it was like pulling teeth and the ending was shit too, no element of surpise, everything was predictable as fuck.

mann is my fav director, his sense of style in movies is unmatched, as is his story telling for the most part....i havent seen miami vice but even with ur bad review i still want to see how it is for my self
