Sorry if anyone done these before, but has anyone seem them and are they any good..They on later tonight and tomorrow, and wondered if they are watchable..I enjoy horror films but are they really like what the title suggests...lol..they sound gory

the first one is the best, i like the third more than the 2nd, the fourth didnt really make much sense to me, looking forward to the fifth though.

I've enjoyed the first 3 so far. The first is the best I guess because it's an interesting premise. In the second and third you already know the basic premise so some of the shock and enjoyment is taken away because the cat is out of the bag somewhat.

However, if you like your comedy violence, gore and blunt force trauma then you won't be disappointed by any of them.

The first one has some terrible acting, Cary Elwes is laughable at times. I'm not a huge lover of the series, personally I think they believe they are better films than they actually are, take themselves far too seriously if you ask me.

They are worth a watch though, personally Saw ll is my favourite, they get a bit silly after that.

They are a cut above most recent horror films, and much better than their imitators. They don't shrink from showing the gore, but they are more about ideas and psychological pain. They are whodunnits and psychological thrillers rather than splatter films.

For me the first one was flawed and the second one better, but I can also see the second one is a bit pedestrian compared to the first. Similarly the third one didn't resonate with me as much as the fourth. I've not seen the fifth yet.

They can be hard to follow, especially the third and fourth films which repeatedly refer back to events and characters of the earlier films. That's one of the things I like about them - seeing the same events from different perspectives. They all have complex, non-linear narrative structures, with lots of flashbacks.

I like them. I'm not sure what else to tell you. If you like horror, then you should give them a try.

I might like them more when in future I can watch them back to back in quick fire, saw 4 made no sense to me as I couldn't remember the 3rd one.

First time around I really enjoyed Saw (if "enjoyed" doesn't make me sound like some kind of sadist!). I also remember thinking I liked Saw 2 better. I rewatched Saw last night though and some of the acting is really awful! I also knew the story so it didn't have the same impact.

Saw 3 didn't stand out to me and Saw 4 I had to rewatch because my poor brain started to get confused!

Watching Saw 5 today so trying to avoid spoilers and hoping it's not going to get me further muddled!

Did you end up watching it last night OP?

I watched Saw again last night and enjoyed it again (although like others have said, the acting sometimes is just abysmal! Cory Elwes especially).

I didn't know Saw 2 was on tonight, I'll watch that (again).

First time i watched it last night

Awful. I guessed from the start about the bloke in the room! And the fact that the guy from lost was being played too

Crap

I watched this morning, and was good, bits were funny, was bit gory in places, esp when he was sawing foot off, that bit made me cringe and go errrughhh....lol...Yep second one tonight..

The first one is much mroe dialogue orientated, and I assume they had a much lower budget because most of it is just in one room, but I really like that because it feels much less blockbuster hollywood.

Some of the later ones, are a bit OTT.

1st one is original and strong story line, the others films storylines just make some vain attempt at linking in with the first one, havent seen the 5th one yet though, so who knows, maybe it was all properly planned out... somehow I think not though.

Still worth watching!

I think the first one cost $1m, the second one cost $4m, and the third one $8m. They make over $100m, so it's a very successful franchise in financial terms. They are still cheap to make, and also very quick - part of the formula is the Halloween release.

I also heard that the first one was supposed to be straight to DVD, until they realised it was too good for that. Presumably the second one showed it wasn't a one-off fluke, and the third is where they really started planning ahead.

According to www.imdb.com

Saw had a budget of $1,200,000 & grossed $55,153,403
Saw II had a budget of $4,000,000 & grossed $87,025,093
Saw III had a budget of $10,000,000 & grossed $80,150,343
Saw IV had a budget of $10,000,000 & grossed $63,270,259

I quite liked the first film. When it came out, it was a bit different to the usual horror films. I didn't care much for the second film though and the I only watched half the 3rd film before turning it off. I haven't really bothered with the other Saw films since.
