Just seen this. I actually really enjoyed it. Not overly gruesome like Saw 3 which was silly but a good level of gore. A lot of loose enRAB sorted.. a good few twists! Overall, a very good installment to the franchise.
Are you kIdding me,!? If you actually whatch all the saws you will see that be has left tapes behind & People have taken over from jigsaw to carry on his work, and he's in flashbacks in 6. He isn't actually back alive. I think it's brilliant how we do keep seeing him
Eyelikebeer.. I dunno what movie you were watching but this was one of the most gruesome in the series! Especially the start and end!
lionsof66..it will be slated as people just can't accept that a series of so many films could actually be quite good!
All in all, I enjoyed the film, maybe not up there with the fresh first two but still pretty enjoyable. The story was better and more Jigsaw in this one was good. Acting was worse than ever unfortunately!!
PS..The carousel was brilliant..steam room not so good!!
Exactly, the critics in magazines ect are being too harsh, the saw franchise is fatasticly well done, you can tell the producers have thought about each film carefully. Plus the deaths are always fantasticly done.
why didn't John's wife give Hoffman a way out like Jigsaw used to? She said that it was John's will for Hoffman to be his final test, but are we meant to presume that Jigsaw wanted him dead?
I think much of the saw movies are left open to interpretation (probably to allow for further sequels).
Is Jigsaw an intelligent maniac with a God like complex,or does he stick to his sadistic rules, but others (Hoffman,Amanda and Jill) don't?
I guess it could be argued that there was a way out,and Hoffman found it.Only he had to lose half his face in the process. But then most of the tests involve suffering some kind of disfiguration,if one want's to live.
Are you sure it was Saw VI you were watching?! It was the most gruesome movie I've ever seen. Right from the very beginning where the woman is trying to chop her own arm off. It's the first time I've ever fealt physically sick in the cinema. A lot of it was very uncomfortable to watch.
However, I loved the plot revolving around the issue of healthcare and the ending was brilliant. One of the better movies in the Saw franchise.
But don't go and see it on a full stomach whatever you do.
Went to see it earlier today and although it did tie up a few loose enRAB I notice
they were careful to leave it open to the possibility of more.
I've waited a year to find out what was in the box John left for his wife and not sure what to think about the ending yet - it all happened a little too fast and then the titles came up. I wanted to rewind and watch that bit again.
It was quite gruesome but not so much that I had to look away. I think the opening sequence perfectly set up what was to come in the rest of the film.
I'm surprised by the positive comments here. I thought it was slightly better than Saw V but not really a patch on Saws I-IV. The big problem was the lame twist at the end. Without a proper twist, it isn't a proper Saw film. Instead it just seemed to add far more gore than usual, and more camera effects. The main victim wasn't someone wasting their life so it didn't seem to fit Jigsaw's usual ethos, either.
They did a better job of continuing the mythology than I expected. It was good to see
Amanda and Hoffman together, and to see the rivalry between them.
We got to see what was in Jill's box and what was in Amanda's envelope. I quite liked how Jill was played, especially
seeing she was more involved with the traps then we'd previously been shown, was persuaded by Jigsaws (only!) success with Amanda, but was quite a reluctant participant.
The twist, though:
Who cares which of the cages had his family in? The first four films had twists which caused you to reinterpret what happened. Eg discovering the CCTV of the house in Saw II was a recording completely changed the situation, and we had the reveal of Amanda. In Saw III we saw the text was actually focussed on Amanda, not Jeff, and that Lynne and Jeff were married. In IV we had almost the entire film in flashback so its ending coincided with the end of Saw III, and the reveal of Hoffman.
Saw V basically had nothing. VI had the reporter being the protagonist's sister. Who cares? The other two were relatives of his victims. Again, so what? It was copying ideas from III, poorly. Finding out that Hoffman blackmailed Amanda into shooting Lynn and so effectively killed her was interesting, and it does colour the previous film, but it did not cause me to go back and reevaluate previous events and dialogue in this film.
I also didn't think much of
Jill and Hoffman at the end. Obviously something like that was going to happen, but when it came it didn't make much sense. It was hardly a "game" for Hoffman; there was no key, and he wasn't supposed to survive.
Saw V was weak. Saw VI was a chance to save the franchise, but although it's not a terrible film, it's not done enough for me to halt the decline. It's becoming like one of its imitators. Gore and traps don't make a Saw.
Saw VII will apparently be in 3D. A gimmick, basically. It's only a matter of time until they forget all their core values completely. They'll start playing it for laughs, make it rated 15 so its safe for children, and then they'll bring Jigsaw back and pitch him against Freddy, Jason and Pinhead. In space.
Yep agree about the ending..its the same with all of the films..you immediately want to watch it again...but thats what an ending should be like.
Comical these American newspapers giving it 0/10. The Empire review is quite balanced and gives it 6/10 which is more like it. for the record for me...7/10.
Saw always has the best Endings! And the twist at the end of 6 is just wicked. The critics reviews are really harsh I think they really don't understand the saw franchise , all 6 IMO are fantastic especially for tge fans like myself,
Watched this yesterday, thought it was average at best, ive never been that big a fan of these movies though and only watched it 2 see what happens next,no doubt there will be another and another after that, gonna end up with more saw movies than friday the 13th's.
