This was on Moviehole.net about the planned Saw 3:

"Lionsgate (NYSE and TSX: LGF), the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, and Twisted Pictures today announced plans to develop and produce "Saw III", the next film in the psychologically intense and disturbing horror franchise, for an October 27, 2006 wide release. The film will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), with story by Leigh Whannell and James Wan (Saw, Saw II) and screenplay by Whannell. The Twisted Pictures team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules will return as producers with Whannell and Wan set to executive produce. The announcement was made by Peter Block, Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-productions, Jason Constantine, Lionsgate Senior VP of Acquisitions, and the Twisted Pictures team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules.

"Saw II" set a Lionsgate record with a three-day opening weekend of $31.7 million last Halloween, becoming the widest release in Lionsgate history and achieving one of the best opening weekenRAB ever for a horror sequel. With a domestic box office of over $87 million and more than $148 million in worldwide theatrical box office, "Saw II" easily eclipsed the $55 million domestic box office total of the original "Saw". "Saw" and "Saw II" have grossed nearly $250 million in combined worldwide box office.

"Saw II" debuted as the #1 DVD in North America two weeks ago, becoming the fastest-selling theatrical DVD release in Lionsgate history with 3.9 million units sold in its first week alone. The movie was also released on VHS and UMD. The Saw franchise has sold nearly 10 million units to date for Lionsgate.

Saw and Saw 2 are great films, but i think Saw 3 will flop like Scream 3 did, but thats just my opinion. But i am looking forward to it, i just hope they dont fail.

I hope that during SAW III it will

leave you guessing at the fate but then tell you what happened in some kind of flashback so it wasn't a big story line but gets mentioned i was also like to find out the fate of Lawence (the doctor from I) because i really hope they will bring him back in some way. i think that jigsaw will also die in III and leave amander compleatly on her own which will be intresting, or even better, amanda puts jigsaw in a trap like he did to her

Director Darren Lynn Bousman has been talking about his plans for Saw 3 and "Leigh [Whannell], James [Wan] and myself all started meeting weekly and talking about stories, and we've come up with one we really like. Originally, we took it to Mark [Burg] and Oren [Koules] of Twisted Pictures and started to look for other directors and, at one point, other writers. But the more we talked, the more we realized that this was a no-brainer. We had to end the SAW trilogy. Not the SAW franchise, but this trilogy between the three of us. We had to see this thing through".

At present, "Leigh is off writing the first draft right now and doing his own thing. As things progress and as we near shooting, I might do a polish. This one is for the fans. It's a complete fan-based movie there are no studio execs telling us what they want to see here. This is for the SAW buRAB in every aspect, and it's going to have a lot of stuff they won't expect to see. And believe me, they ain't seen anything yet. The opening deaths in this film are going to put SAW II to shame"

So it sounRAB very interesting what they have got planned for Saw 3!

I loved Saw, thought it was orginial, creative and twisted. It left me feeling very uneasy when I walked out of the cinema, which not many films can do, so I rate it highly,

I had high hopes for Saw 2 but unfortunately I didnt think it was as good as Saw. Not bad, but not brilliant either.

So I will reserve judgement on Saw 3 until I see it, but from what I have read on this thread, it sounRAB promising.

Here is some casting news for Saw 3 but I have put spoiler tags around it as it does spoil it for people who have not seen Saw 2:

Tobin Bell has been confirmed to reprise his role as the villainous Jigsaw despite his death in Saw 2

Shawnee Smith who played Amanda in Saw 2 will also return as Jigsaw apprentice

Saw 3 which will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman will film in Toronto from May 1-June 12 for a release on October 27!

Both saw and saw 2 scared the life out of me, i thought they were the scariest films i had ever seen until i watched hostel the other day. I will definately be watching saw 3 though.

According to a bit of news that I read on Dark Horizons they are casting the following 2 characters for Saw 3:

"Two of our new victims are Lynn and Jeff one of whom runs quickly afoul of Jigsaw. Lynn is a married mother in her late 30s who is kidnapped by Jigsaw. As you might expect all is not sunny on Lynn's front who's got some dark secrets she's keeping from her family.

Then there's Jeff, a dad who has never recovered fully after his son died. It was an accident but he's never been able to forgive himself. how he fits into the SAW legacy is being kept a mystery".

Saw and Saw 2 are excellent, they'r egreat because they're not predictible or stereotypical and is able to have a strong and interesting storyline
The twist in Saw 2 was excellent!! I don't know anyone who guessed that

Amanda was a working with Jigsaw

That what I thought as well but he might not have died or he could just appear in flashbacks. I am sure they will find some way to feature him!
