Apparently after the sucess of the first Saw they are planning to release a sequel for Halloween 2005. This was one film I didnt expect a sequel too even though I really enjoyed it!
Its seems that Hollywood is showing again that it has run out of ideas and as soon as film is cult hit they plan the sequel!

Director/Screenwriter James Wan and Screenwriter/Actor Leigh Whannell have recently been taking about the proposed sequel to their film Saw:

“Producers are definitely talking about it yeah. We don’t know exactly know what our full involvement is yet. We’d say we’ll be executive producers or overseeing it. It’s only in the early stages so I may have a hand in the writing. The film just opened, so it feels kinda early to be talking about a sequel. From the moment the film opened , the sequel gets greenlit the next day. We haven’t had time to think about it. But the producers have had time; they find time to talk about the sequel”, Whannell laughs. “I don’t think I’ll be directing”, adRAB Wan, who wants to move onto directing new projects.

So it seems that they would be that involved in the sequel!

Well I found that the ending was very good and surprising... so I dont know how that could be surpassed in the sequel. Let me guess, the guy with the cancer was being manipulated by another guy! and him another... and him another.

It was all god's fault. :)

I didn't see saw. Can you say what you saw in saw or if you say what your saw will it spoil saw2? Saying I don't see saw before I see saw2 will I understanding what I am seeing when I see saw2?

I read about the planned Saw 2 in this months 'Shivers' as well (very badly written magazine but there aint much alternative - it also contained a very unenlightening article on Night of the Demon - don't read it if you plan to watch this great movie - too many unmarked spoilers - sorry, going off topic...)
I hope the sequel ain't as rubbage as Jeepers Creepers 2. Thank gawd there wont be a sequel to Open Water...

Didn't these first time low budget film makers who've suddenly been handed loaRAB-a-money by the studio to make a sequel learn anything from Blair Witch 2?

Darren Lynn Bousman is going to be directing Saw 2. Bousman wrote the script for Saw 2 with aid from the first film's creators, James Wan and Leigh Whannel. Principal photography is set to begin May 2 in Toronto for a Halloween release but no cast has been announced. However the rumour that the sequel will be called Hacksaw is not true!

I heard about that. I don't know how they'll link it to the first one, though - the killer is about to die anyway, and so is Cary Elwes, and the other dude is still locked in that room.

Director Darren Lynn Bousman has been talking to Bloody Disgusting about Saw 2. He said "Gotta remain pretty tightlipped about the story at this point, other than to say, James and Leigh have been an amazing asset to me in creating and shaping the sequel. Many key players from the original production team will return to maintain the feel of the first film, while allowing me to introduce new horrific elements into the Saw universe." So he is not saying much about what he planned for Saw 2 yet!
