So I know that i am really late but I just got a chance to see this movie and I just have to say that it was one of the wittiest and funniest movies I have seen in a long time!:)

I don't think this will get a release at the cinema near me, so I'll probably have to wait a while before seeing it. It sounds interesting though.

The scene I saw on Sundance and the general overview they aired/discussed seemed very good. I was actually surprised to see Macauley Culkin and think that - although it was only one scene - he might have grown up to be a pretty good actor. As I said though - only a clip :) But the discussion and the Ebert review (now this is shocking because I normally don't pick a movie based on him) make me want to see it even more.

Mukooh - I will be anxiously awaiting your thoughts on the movie :)

I thought it was billed as a dark comedy...

I saw a scene on Sundance and it looked like a great movie. The scene involved a "pep rally" on the first day of school.

My understanding is that a couple of the folks at the school are not as religious as say, the Mandy Moore character, and so I think there is some drama on that front. More comedy/drama/etc in regards to some of the experiences Jena Malone is going thru. Mandy Moore is considered her "antagonist"...

I can't wait to see it too. It looks really funny and awesome. Plus I love Jena Malone in almost everything she's been!

Yeah I think the main reasons I wanted to see it at first were Patrick Fugit and Macaulay Culkin and they were both great as usual. Patrick makes me melt everytime even though he isn't your typical celebrity crush. There is something so pure about him though.

I just realized who Eva Amurri is and I feel so dumb that I couldn't figure it out. Anyhow, she's gorgeous and oh so funny.

And I also just remembered that this was a United Artist film. (How dumb am I? I even pointed that out to my boyfriend when we saw it.) No wonder. My favorite actress founded the company back in 1919(ish) and it was based around making quality pictures. This one is so exception.

What was that comment about the Roswell book said earlier? I can't find it.

Please don't think I as attacking you. I was just saying...

I really need to find somewhere to download that Chantal Kreviazuk song. It's been in my head since I saw the movie.

:lmao: yep that was the best part. And when they were trying to do an exorcism on Mary.

What was Cassandra saying when they were having that assembly and she made a scene?

....."it argues that Jesus would have embraced the cast-outs and the misfits, and might have leaned toward situational ethics instead of rigid morality."......

i really wasnt' going to see 'saved'.......for a number of reasons....now i'm glad i read this thread and joined in with the discussion....now i know alot more about this film...and just based upon the above statement from roger ebert's review (it's follows my own particular view of what jesus is like) i plan on seeing a 1:15 p.m. showing of the film.......will be back later with my thoughts on being 'saved'......

i wanna see this movie - but my feeling is that it won't be shown on AMC or edwards! :( which means i have to travel to an indie theater! :(

I can't wait to see this movie if it gets a wider release. Mandy Moore looks absolutely hilarious.

I love love loooooove Patrick Fugit, so I've been waiting ages to see this! I think I'll see it this week since it opened nationally. I hope it's good!

They are so dumb. They should show it. People can decide for themselves if they want to see it or not.

In the limited-release world, MGM's United Artists banner did better with the high school satire "Saved!" The film, starring Jena Malone, Mandy Moore and Macaulay Culkin, sold $328,000 worth of tickets from 20 theaters in five markets. It expands next month.

20 theaters in 5 markets....now that's what i call a very limited release....

Thanks for that review! It sounds great and I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time b/c Jena Malone is my favorite actress and the supporting cast is not bad either. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it's showing anywhere near where I live, but hopefully I'll get to see it at some point.

Maliejandra, I hope I did not sound sterotypical when I was talking about hints of Dean being gay.

And you are absolutley right about gay not always being the flashy men. I admit some of my friends who happen to be gay/bi and they act nothing like the sterotypical traits.

So I am sorry if I implied that just because Dean had sequins on his outfit meant he was gay.
