I feel bad seeing so many people struggle, I'm gonna make this very simple for many of you. You need the PST and u740 DLL, plus my attached preconfigured MMC file.

1) Launch Samsung PST.
2) Select DLL for phone model.
3) Go to SETTING.
4) Place a check for MMS, WAP2, and IS-95/1x parameters.
5) Press OPEN MMC FILE and browse for downloaded MMC file.
6) Before writing the MMC file, edit any instances of [email protected] in the three sections to your MDN.
7) Press WRITE TO PHONE and you are finished.

heh, for those who want a little cricKet branding.

Or not, I've officially bricked my first phone (the A970), now it's on ebay for parts, lol. It didn't like it when I edited the userprefs.j file... now it just powercycles continuously.

Really I'm surprised I made it this far before bricking a phone.

i figured out the issue that i was having when i did another u740...i didn't change the user edit value back to "0" when i was done, so it kept reverting back to verizon settings...lol

i'm such a freakin noob some times...well i figured that one out and really don't remeraber seeing it in the guide...maybe it would make a good addition?

ok .. i used qpst to load the 1039 prl file and changed all the settings found on this post, on the phone, and through qpst.... yet .... when i try to *228 i still get the verizon message??? i entered the settings with qpst as per this post and clicked write to phone ... phone shuts down and when i turn back on ... and go back into the phone all settings that i changed are there except under PPP config my USER ID says [email protected] instead on mynuraber@cricket .... i've changed it several times and clicked write to phone but it keeps going back to that .... any insight to resolve this would be greatly appreciated .... i have already switched daughters service to this phone and she's driving me NUTS cause she can't use it!!!!

also ... i didn't see anything about those mdn and min or sid/nid settings in this thread .... but .... where do i find those settings to change or set them and what do i set them to?
Could this be a locked phone issue?? :befuddled

just imagine I am yelling at this point because i am growing woofully tired to repeating the same basic stuff to you that myself and many others have repeated over and over to people:

If you are getting the Verizon Activation Message when you dial *228 then you have not loaded the cricket PRL. Load 1040. there's no reason for you to load anything else at this point.
If you are getting an American Roaming message (which you should not get when dialing *228) then you just need to set the MIN/MDN.
If you get a fast busy signal then load a valid MDN/MIN pair.

It is really that simple. as far as I know there are no Verizon Phones that override the PRL when dialing *228. Only some Sprint Phones do that.
It is not an issue with the phone being locked. Even if there was a subsidy lock on the phone (which there is not unless you put it on there) it would still connect to the Cricket OTASP IVR and then fail to unlock. you would probably get an SPC failure message on the screen or something.

Read back the PRL from the phone in QPST. Is it the right one? I bet you it's not. If QPST is not writing the PRL to your phone for some reason, try Samsung PST. That is what I used.
Don't worry about any setting except your MDN/MIN and PRL until you are able to place a voice call on cricket. NONE of the other settings in this post affect your ability to place a voice call. they are strictly to get advanced DATA features working.

I am trying to setup mms and web. I did every step by tutorial. I activated phone on the account, read with sam pst lite saved, sam pst opened and edited, saved again pst lite and wrote. Then manually programming:
"Step 1: Go to the "Settings and Tools" menu and press "OK". Once you are in there press the # key, you should be prompted for a ?User Lock? password enter ?0 0 0 0 0 0? for the password. Once in the ?SYSTEM INFO? menu press "0" one more time and you will be prompted with another ?User Lock? password request, input 0 2 1 8 2 4 3 4 4 0. This will unlock yet another menu ?PARAM EDITOR?.........................

I refreshed account. Still no results. I am getting errror "Network unavailable, retry later", before i had error "netwrk connection lost".

Thanks in advance :clapping:

I got mms going on an A930 yesterday. I have tried it a couple times, but never had success.

I had to come up with a new method, and it's probably gonna help out with a lot of samsung models.

The problem was that SamsungPST would not read/write to the A930. It gave me an "Invalid Password" error, and I tried every dll I had. Sometimes it would just crash when reading the phone. The MSL is 000000, so I think the "Invalid Password" error refers to the phone's internal 16-digit security password, which must be erabedded in the DLL for a particular phone#.

What I had to do, was use SamsungPSTLite to read the settings from the A930. I think I used the u740 DLL, since it was the most complete. Once it read the settings, I could not change most of the important items using Lite, so instead, I saved the settings to an .MMC file.

Ah-haa! You can start to see where this post of leading.... :-)

Now open up SamsungPST, which cannot read the phone, but it will open your saved .MMC file. Now edit whatever you need to edit, save the .MMC file, and exit out of SamsungPST.

Now open SamsungPSTLite, load the .MMC file, and write it to the phone.
Voila, working wap on the A930.
