Samsung Solstice memory card doesn't work?

I just got a 4GB MicroSDHC memory card for my Samsung Solstice, but when I put it in, it doesn't work. When I turn on my phone with the memory card in it, it says "Please check status of inserted microSD card" Help please. Also, the adapter I have for it is SanDisk TransFlash adapter.
