this was great, unlocked my girlfriends phone with the standard USB-cable and the "DB9 2-3pin" thing

paul8888: The model of the cable i used is: PCB429USE. This cable came with the phone. Please ask sorinm on help with making a cable. I think he has built his own cable successfully.
 
hi ktd, can you fix a link to Easystudio that reefer45 used so i can download it? I only need that program now and reefers links are dead. And I dont need a sim for backing up either yes? sorry for the questions and the trouble. thanx .
 
Made a clean Windows installation on an old machine of mine, and it worked right away. It could be the problem described in another thread, that the virtual USB COM-port has to have a number less than 10. On my main computer it got number 10.

All branding intact. No noticed side effects.

He, now it seems lite i'm the one who needs help with this.. :-)

Today i tried to unlock my Z500, and it doesn't really work.

I have read that my settings should work.
Have tried both with and without SIM.
I also have nr 2 & 3 at the RS232 port bridged.
And i use Samsung original cable (PCB429USE)

Any tips?

Do you need to do the backup with EasyStudio.rar to unlock the mobile or is unneccesary? What does the backup take in the backup? hehe.
 
i'm sure that might be the case for you. But if you check the thread and other zxxx threads you will see that a lot of people have problems with this version of winimei and comports over 9. So if i would make a guide i would make sure to point that out. Cause it is far easier to help someone if they follow instructions instead of saying use any comport it should work. And then get a lot of questions from people that it didn't work for.
 
I dont understand how reefer45 connected the phone to the pc when he unlocked his z500, did he connect it to the pc thru USB or made a sort of USB-serial adapter ,....could someone explain this please

Sorry for taking so long to reply have been a bit busy. I didn't even notice but i choose Z105 and [08]Sweden(VDS). My phone is also Telia branded and was locked to Telia(Swedish). So the reply would be. Choose Z105 and [08]Sweden(VDS) for your Telia branded Z105. It worked perfect for me.
 
I'm not sure but i think your problem is the USB com port... Either it is 10+ or you forced it to under 10 which might not work. Try to delete ALL old modems and then reconnect the phone and hope it gets a com port between com2 and com9. If not force it by editing the registry(i.e. NOT forcing in advanced port settings). And finally try another computer.. Best is when it is freshly installed.
 
direct usb cable works for unlock (the one posted above - same as VSH posted it for z130, it's in forum)
for flashing i didn't tested
 
Hi there..

It seems like there is a lot of people who have problem with unlocking
the Samsung SGH-Z500 phone.. (i'm inclided)

Here is my solution to the problem..

First, used equipment :

* 1 Original USB cable (PCB429USE)
* 1 female 9-pin D-sub connector with pin 2 & 3 connected to each other.
* Drivers for the CDMA modem (search, and you will find them)
* Software (QIWS_V1.16(Service)_041011.exe) for Z105 phones.


* First, install the CDMA-drivers (and reboot if asked to)
* ATTENTION!! Keep the CDMA-modem port as low as possible
I first had it as number 13. Didn't work at all.
Now it's at 7, and that works.
* Install the QIVS software.
* Connect the 9-pin D-sub to the serialport
* Start the QIVS software.
* Select phone-model : Z105 and Buyer : [08]Sweden(VDS)
(Probably that's the one you try to unlock) and press OK.

If you aren't able to do this, you won't be able to unlock the phone.
* If you can read the phone settings, you can now push the 'Unlock' button.
---> If you don't get negative text's in reply, your phone is now unlocked.


Hope you will fix it!
