samsung moment or samsung intercept?

i currently have the htc hero and i was thinking of getting either the moment or intercept. just today i went to a sprint store so i can try out those phones for the first time. i am a big texter. i like texting with the phone keypad (which is the main way of me texting) and occasionally i like to use the qwerty keyboard. but as i was using both moment, i couldnt figure out how to use the regular phone keypad to text (only the qwerty keyboard was available). im not sure if im making myself clear.... only the touch screen qwerty keyboard was available for texting without having the physical keyboard out. if there is a way for me to use the phone keypad instead of that damn qwerty keyboard then that would make one heck of a texting phone. and then when i was using the intercept, i couldnt figure out how to use either the phone keypad or the qwerty keyboard, the only way that i was able to type anything was if i slid out the physical keyboard and started texting. if im not making myself clear in any way, feel free to let me know. so my question is could i use the phone keypad to text with the moment? and is there a way to text with the touchscreen on the intercept? anything will help. thanks dudes!
