Samsung LN32B360 720p?

Now I know a little about HD but im confused here. The TV is a native 720 monitor. With the PS3 Slim it displays 1080i and P but im sure its downscaling it to 720... i think... is there a way to change this. I also want to know if there is a way to get into the firmware and change the default res to 1080.
